LETTERS TO THE EDITOR To the editor: The Small Business Program and the Siletz Tribal Action Network (S.T.A.N.) would like to thank the Siletz Tribal Busi ness Corporation (STBC) Board for ap proving a budget change allowing the purchase of six computers. The computers have been installed in the Lincoln City STBC office and will be used by the Small Business Program and S.T.A.N. workshops. The addition of these computers to our programs will make it easier for Siletz Tribal members to develop their skills and work toward either a career goal or becoming an entrepreneur. With the continued support of the Tribal Council and the STBC Board, our educational/training programs will suc cessfully grow and allow us to provide services that will promote ongoing edu cation and skill development for inter ested tribal members. Thank you, Rosie Sufficool Business Information Counselor Siletz Tribal Business Corporation To the editor: Re: Restoration Pow-Wow 2005 Our pow-wow will be next month; we will be celebrating many years of Restoration. I have no self-interest and I am a hard working advocate for all tribal members. I will have more in the voters' pam phlet on goals and issues that 1 will be striving to achieve if 1 am re-elected. The only promise I can make is I will work diligently for the people. Thank you again for the support I have received the last three years. Your concerns for your grandson’s education are valid, as are all concerns of tribal members who live out of the 11 counties. I believe you are asking for a helping hand, not a hand out, as 1 did 10 years ago at a Tribal Council meeting for tribal members out of the I 1 -county geo graphical area. Unfortunately, until one walks in another’s footprint, it seems, do we feel appropriate concern. The paper chase trail concerning all programs can be a bit over whelming while trying to process in a timely manner with the required informa tion. However, there is respectful appre ciation for attention thus far in some areas. Mr. Ben, your grandson is lucky to have a concerned grandfather whose voice carries in the wind. There are those who have not. 1 admire your grandson’s endeavors to further his education in Sacramento. We have descendants of ancestors who are not entitled to reach for a help ing hand to further their education. Their frustration must be along the same lines, Mr. Ben, as that of yourself and your grandson. I hope that all look deep; we cannot afford to throw away our children. Respectfully, Eva E.
