TRIBAL PROGRAM NEWS Charitable Fund Distributes Nearly $250,000 The Siletz Tribal Charitable Con tribution Fund made another round of distributions Feb. 4 and the seven member advisory board has distributed more than $1.4 million since its incep tion in 2001. Thirty-four organizations shared $247,582.60 in contributions when checks were presented at Chinook Winds Casino Resort. This included $150,000 to Siletz Valley School for operational costs, salaries, and benefits; $20,000 to Siletz Valley Friends of the Library for a new library building; $6,800 to the North Lincoln County Historical Museum for construction costs, display cases, and platforms; and $5,000 to My Sisters’ Place for wages/payroll taxes for a part-time weekend advocate. The Siletz Tribe is proud of its con tributions through employment, mon etary donations, and cooperative measures to the Siletz community and Lincoln County as a whole. The tribe has honored its tradition of sharing within the community by distributing more than $3.5 million through the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund and other tribal resources. Chinook Winds has donated more than $550,000 in cash and fund-raising items since it opened in 1995. It also provides in-kind donations of conven tion space for various fund-raisers as well as technical support, advertising, and manpower for many events. Eligibility for money from the Charitable Contribution Fund is limited to two categories: • • Entities and activities located in the Siletz Tribe’s 11-county service area (Lincoln, Tillamook, Linn, Lane, Benton, Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties) Native American entities and activi ties located anywhere in the U.S. The next deadline for submitting applications is May 18, 2005.
