TRIBAL MEMBER NEWS New Babies! Megan Crookes, 16, was named Student of the Month for November at McKenzie River Christian School and was recognized in The Register-Guard in Eugene, Ore. She is a junior with a 4.00 GPA. Megan was honored as an “excep tional student in all academic areas, student leader, good at organizing, and running events. Very musical, enthusi astic, and self-disciplined.” Kenai Antonio Hatler Robertson Stacey Robertson and Joe Talimao of Fairview, Ore., welcome a new ad dition to their family. On Dec. 3, 2004, at 7:21 p.m., Kenai Antonio Hatler Robertson entered the world. He was bom at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham, Ore. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 8° ounces, and measured 20 inches long. Kenai joins his grandparents, Diane and Russell Robertson of Fairview and Leota and Nellie Talimao of Portland, Ore. He also joins his half-brother, Jody Jay Talimao of Redmond, Ore., as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Welcome to the world, Kenai! Rebecca Hatfield recently passed the National Counseling Exam (NCE) with flying colors! She will complete her master’s degree in counseling at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore., in June. Rebecca has been working with Benton County Youth Corrections to by big sister Katelynn and big brother Logan Flores Eddie and Krista Flores would love to announce the third addition to their family, Alex Hunter Flores. He was bom April 29, 2004, weighing 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 19 inches long. We love you, little brother! Lenny and Sheryl Simmons, Brenda Bremner further her training. She already has her licensure as a personal trainer, as well as her two bachelor’s degrees in exercise and sports science as well as psychology. She is the daughter of Oscar and Kathy Hatfield of Independence, Ore. Siletz Spring Basketball Tournament March 25-27, 2005 Coed format: Five girls and five boys Three brackets (four teams in each bracket) Grades 4-5-6, 7-8-9, and 10-11-12 The Resident Organization and Siletz Tribal Housing Department will once again sponsor the tournament. In 1989, the Simmons were among 38 other tribal families who signed leases to purchase homes in the Silatchee Park housing development, built with HUD funds. These homes are opments - 15 homes at Tootootney Court and 20 homes at Oak Flats (an other nine homes are currently under construction at Oak Flats).
