TRIBAL PROGRAM NEWS December USDA Distribution Dates Salem Siletz Monday, Dec. 6 Tuesday, Dec. 7 Wednesday, Dec. 8 Thursday, Dec. 9 9 9 9 9 a.m. - a.m. - a.m. - a.m. - 3 3 3 3 p.m. p.m. p.m. p.m. The new Fresh Produce Program has been implemented at both ware houses and has been very well accepted by our clients in both locations. It’s been a challenge for staff to learn to order and distribute the fresh fruits and veg etables, but with the patience of our clients, we are learning quickly. We receive high quality produce and have a great variety of products to choose from, including Red Delicious and Fuji apples, pears, oranges, zuc chini squash, red and russet potatoes, purple and yellow onions, cucumbers, green peppers, celery, and carrots. We also will get seasonal produce in the coming months. Monday, Dec. 20 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thank you to Earl Littleton for the great job he does for us at the Salem warehouse. Earl volunteered for us when we were very short-handed. He baked us delicious cookies and also prepared a pot of hot chili for our cli ents, who really enjoyed it on a very cold day. We appreciate everything he does for us. Also thanks to Oscar Norwest and Arlene Steggell for all the help when we needed it. Thank you to Jamiee Crowe and Vai Hibdon, the Siletz 477 Self-Sufficiency staff, for placing workers Robert (Bobby) Brandt and Daniel Brown here with us in Siletz. They are really great workers and are a big help when we receive monthly shipments of more than 30,000 pounds of multi-food products on the semi trucks that we dismantle into the Siletz warehouse and reload into our refrig erated truck to ship to Salem. They also help serve clients on a daily basis. They are a great help in running the USDA Distribution Program. Please notice the change in distri bution dates for the Siletz warehouse. USDA offices will be closed Dec. 10 for the Siletz Tribal employees’ winter all-staff meeting. Crowns do not include years but do include separate barrettes that are ap proximately 3 inches in diameter with the year “2005” on them and matching the colors on the crown. All proposals must be submitted with a proposed design, including color scheme, size of beads, size of crown(s) and total cost. Preference will be given to crowns containing the state of Or egon with treaty date, cursive writing, and a minimum bead size of 11 or smaller. Proposals must be re ceived by Jan. 31, 2005. You can submit proposals for as many crowns as you would like. Payment is made after the crown(s) and barrette(s) are completed. Crowns must be completed by July 31, 2005.
