LETTERS TO THE EDITOR To the editor: On behalf of the Siletz Valley Friends of the Library, we would like to thank the committee of the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund for their generous grant of $750 for our group liability insurance. During the past year, we sponsored seven “events” to promote the Siletz Library and raise money for a new building. A tremendous amount of time and energy went into planning and ex ecuting those events. It was a relief to know that we had liability insurance, in case anything unfortunate happened. With your generous support, we can renew that insurance coverage and con tinue to raise money for the new library. We are an all-volunteer group, and yearly dues are only $5. Many of us donate paper, computer ink, postage costs, and other supplies to keep costs down. When we apply for grants, foun dations want to know what ongoing financial support exists for our group. We are very proud to tell them that the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund has been very supportive, not only with money for insurance, but in pur chasing things for the current library. Over the years, the fund has given us the money to remodel some cup boards in the library to make more shelves for children’s books, for sub scriptions to large-print book plans, and for story time aids, including a bright new rug, puppets and theater, and a por table CD player. The shiny new book drop in front of the current library was To the editor: Yesterday there was no wind. Today the wind is behind us; now we need to harness that wind for tomorrow. How true.
