TRIBAL MEMBER NEWS Woods Receives Electrical Apprenticeship Wyatt Woods has been chosen for Brightwood Corp.’s electrical appren ticeship program. The company only accepts one applicant each year to join its program. The apprenticeship takes four years. During that time, the apprentice works with licensed electricians and takes classes at Central Oregon Com munity College. At the end of four years, Wyatt will be a licensed electrician. Wyatt has worked for Brightwood for the last 16 years, mostly in Madras. Five years ago, he entered Brightwood’s millwright apprenticeship program and successfully completed it two years later. After working as a millwright for Wyatt Woods three years, he decided he wanted to continue his education and applied for the electrical program. Brightwood Corp, is a mill with sites in Madras, Redmond, Bend, New Zealand, and a few other places. Wyatt, your family is very proud of how hard you have worked to get here and knows you’ll be successful in this next challenge. Congratulations! Case Earns All-Star Award by Dad, Mom, Gram, Brandon, and Ami Casee Case attended the Cascade Basketball Camp in August. Out of 50 kids, he was picked as one of five all stars and he also was the champion of the Guard’s one-on-one tournament. We are very proud of Casee for work ing hard and doing so well. Keep up the work ethic and desire, and you will go far. Also, thank you to the Siletz Youth Program for helping to send Casee to basketball camp. Warren and Donna Woods Woods Shine at Surf City by Cindy Jackson Donna and Warren Woods made a good showing for the tribe at the car show held at Chinook Winds on Sept. 24, 2004. Their “Woody” PT won the award for “Sexiest PT Cruiser.” They received a beautiful crystal trophy and $75! They are members of the Willamette Valley PT Cruiser Club and participate in many car shows and parades. Gyrrad is a 2004 graduate of Toledo High School and Melissa will graduate in June 2005. The wedding date has been set for July 4, 2005. Congratula tions, Gyrrad and Melissa.
