May 2004 Veterans Needed for Honor Guard by Margo Hudson The Siletz Tribal Honor Guard is looking for volunteers to serve on it. We do special events, funerals for veterans, and parades. Tribal Council generously provided funds to purchase part of the honor guard uniforms. I’m looking for volunteers in different areas because we would like to broaden our area of service, but need help in finding veterans who are willing to serve, even if part-time. I’m building a calendar of events and ordering uniforms. After four or more events at which you serve on the Siletz Tribal Honor Guard, Tribal Council has allocated funds to purchase an additional item for your uniform. It’s a surprise and only available while funds exist. Training will be provided once we have established enough people for an honor guard. I have been designated as the staff representative for the veterans. Please call or write to let me know that you are interested. My telephone number is 1-800-922-1399, ext. 1303, or 541-444-8303. My mailing address is Margo Hudson, Veterans Represen tative, Siletz Tribe, P.O. Box 549, Siletz, OR 97380-0549.
