It’s Happening at Chinook Winds in February ... by Teresa Simmons Antique and Collectible Show at Chinook Winds Highlights Antique Week With more than 40 dealers of fine antiques and appraisals from one of the most re spected names in the business, the Fourth Annual Oregon Coast Antique and Collectible Show at Chinook Winds Casino & Convention Center is truly the ultimate Oregon Coast antique experience. That’s why Coun try Home Magazine named Lincoln City as one of the 10 best places to “antique.” Visit the Oregon Coast Antique and Collectible Show on Feb. 13-15, in the convention center. The event is free. HGTV’s Harry Rinker appraises your treasures at the One of the show’s Appraise-athon, one of several events held during highlights is the Antique Week in Lincoln City. Antique Week runs Appraise-athon with from Feb. 6-16. Tippin Plays Chinook Winds Aaron Tippin will perform his signature hard-edged twang at Chinook Winds Casino on Feb. 6-7. He’s sold more than 5 million albums that include four top-10 singles, one top-five single, and two No. 1 hit songs. Included in his repertoire are You’ve Got To Stand For Something, There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With The Radio, Working Man's Ph.D., That’s As Close As I'll Get To Loving You, and Kiss This. He manages to fit in about 100 live performances a year. He and his wife, Thea, co-wrote his latest single, Love Like There’s No Tomorrow, which they perform together. The newly released song is from his latest album, When The Stars And Stripes And The Eagle Fly. The title cut was Tippin’s way to express his feelings about the September 11 tragedy. Tickets range from $15 to $35 and are on sale now. Rinker hosts Collector Inspector, a weekly show devoted to seeking out antiques and collectibles in private homes, on Home & Garden Television (HGTV). He also is featured in two HGTV ________________ specials - 2003 Endless Yard Sale and Collectibles: Coast to Coast. In 1991, Rinker founded the Institute for the Study of Antiques & Collectibles. Its seminars, conferences, and other educational programs are designed to increase the skills and expertise of auctioneers, collectors, dealers, and others in the field. The show is just part of Lincoln City’s Antique Week, which runs from Feb. 6-16. Max Alexander will headline the show, with Mike Dugan as the featured comedian and Cork Proctor as host. As one of only six living comics who have performed on both Leno’s and Carson’s The Tonight Show, Max Alexander’s humor is always a big hit wherever he performs. His funny and clean insights into everyday life have made him a favorite opening act for such stars as Frank Sinatra, Julio Iglesias, and Tom Jones. Alexander can be seen in such films as Man on the Moon, Punchline, and Roxanne, and on television in The Practice, Matlock, My Wife And Kids, and Doogie Howser, M.D. Mike Dugan has written for television series and specials for a long list of comedians, including Dennis Miller, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Tom Arnold, and Paul Rodriguez. In 1994, he received an Emmy Award for writing February 2004 Max Alexander for his work on Dennis Miller: Live on HBO. Dugan began performing standup in 1985 at New York’s famed Catch A Rising Star comedy club, along with fellow up-and-coming comedians Adam Sandler, Dennis Miller, and Jon Stewart. In 1988, he won the coveted San Francisco International Standup Comedy Competition. Cork Proctor is the consummate professional Las Vegas comedian and is the self-proclaimed “Roast Master General of the United States.” He’s performed at every major casino in Las Vegas, including some that are no longer standing. Realizing that he wasn’t suited for the business world, Proctor went into comedy at age 40. Since then, he’s opened for Lee Greenwood, Mel Tillis, and Roberta Flack, to name a few. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; the show starts at 8 p.m. A no-host bar will be available. Tickets, priced at $12, are available at the box office.
