It’s Happening at Chinook Winds in December ... by Teresa Simmons Holiday Feasting is Best4^. Chinook Winds Take the family out for fine informal dining or a bountiful buffet to celebrate the holidays! Special entrées are being offered both in the Rogue River Restaurant and the Siletz Bay Buffet. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, enjoy a very merry traditional buffet. Join us in celebrating the season with our carved and slow-roasted prime rib, honey glazed ham, succulent sliced turkey Christmas Buffet, served with all the traditional holiday trimmings. The SileU Bay Buffet features an array of festive salads, entrées, side dishes, and desserts, including a sizzling seafood Caesar salad cook- to-order action station. Top it off with our Chinook Winds eggnog for good cheer. Join us for this very special holiday celebration from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Adults are $ 14.50; children age 5 to 11, $7.50; children age 4 and under, no charge; and seniors, $2 off adult price. The Rogue River Restaurant will offer special plated holiday dinners on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Holiday hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for break fast; lunch from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Lou Rawls Brings R&B Sound Smooth, cool, classy, and three-time Grammy-winning singer Lou Rawls will perform at Chinook Winds Casino on Jan. 16-17. Both shows are at 8 p.m. and tickets ($ 15-$30) are on sale now. Rawls is known for crooning some of the most definitive R&B music of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Hits like Love is a Hurtin ’ Thing, Dead End Street, A Natural Man, You’ll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine), Groovy People, See You When I Git There, Lady Love, and Let Me Be Good To You have cemented him as one of music history’s great song stylists. It’s no wonder that Frank Sinatra referred to Rawls’ voice as “the class iest singing and silkiest chops in the singing game.” Dee Pigsley greets Lars Larson from KXL radio in Portland, Ore., who broadcast his daily radio program live from Senior Fair 2003 at Chinook Winds Casino in October. The fair featured local businesses; entertainment; immunizations, including flu shots for seniors; and drawings for a trip to Hawaii and a cruise for two. Sponsors included AARP, Lincoln City Senior Center, KYTE and KBCH radio, The News Guard, Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau, All Ways Traveling, and Chinook Winds. Ring in the New Year with Comedy, Parties, Cash Drawings, Special Menus, and Bingo Fun Chinook Winds Casino & Conven tion Center is offering something for everyone this New Year’s Eve. Events will take place throughout the house, including special holiday menus in the Siletz Bay Buffet and Rogue River Restaurant and a Bingo special session. The Best of Comedy on the Coast will be featured in the showroom from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Tickets ($15) are on sale at the box office. The Rogue River Lounge will have a Charlie’s Angels-themed party. The restaurant and lounge will open at 5 p.m. for the celebration. DJ Metalman and the Crew will provide the music, with a balloon drop and complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Tickets ($15) are on sale now. Enjoy a night of fun and dancing in the convention center with The Antics from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Party favors and a New Year’s Eve champagne toast are included. Tickets ($15) will be available 22 □ Siletz News at the box office prior to the event and at the door during the event. $2,003 in cash will be given away on New Year’s Eve! A $200 cash prize will be awarded every 20 minutes, with the first selection at 12:30 a.m. and the final selection for $203 at 3:30 a.m. Winners will be determined via random computer selection of all players with their Winner’s Circle card in use. Other gaming floor excitement includes hats, tiaras, party favors, the New Year’s countdown on the big screens, and a sparkling cider toast at midnight. For those who don’t wish to attend New Year’s Eve events but would like some refreshment, a temporary lounge will be set up across from the convention center. The buffet is offering an upscale international buffet and late-night brunch. Indulge yourself with carved slow-roasted prime rib, salmon in □ » December 2003 champagne pear sauce, smoked pork loin, and an array of other tasty treasures chosen from global cuisine, including a shrimp scampi cook-to- order action station. At 10 p.m., the dinner buffet will change to a brunch style buffet for those looking for some late-night breakfast menu item options. Bingo will hold a New Year’s Eve special session at 5 p.m. Start-up games will begin at 4:45 p.m. Buy-in is $30. Main session games will pay $500 and blackout games pay $1,199. Twelve tickets will be given away for the New Year’s Eve party featuring Big Tiny Little in the showroom. Shuttle service will be expanded with three buses running continuously from 4 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 4 a.m. on Jan. 1. The shuttle will not pick up at RV parks, but motels only. In addition to the motel stops, the shuttle will stop at the 51st Street parking lot and the public lot north of Maxwell’s. Shuttle service will resume early on New Year’s Day, beginning at 7 a.m. for the regular hourly route. For transpor tation information, call 541-994-2867. Valet services are available but, because valet spots are limited, everyone is advised to come early. Big fun is in store for youngsters in the Play Palace at the New Year’s Eve Carnival between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m. Reservations are now being taken. The evening’s party package includes a buffet (mini comdogs, tater tots, hot dogs, pizza, chicken strips, and more), noisemakers, hats, crafts, lots of prizes, 25-cent carnival games, a clown, and a special toast at midnight. All this is only $ 16 per child! Parents will receive pagers to ensure that they’ll be con tacted immediately should the need arise. At the Games Galore Arcade, video games contests, prizes, food and drink specials, party favors, and a midnight toast all will be available.
