Thirty-three organizations shared $94,495.56 in contributions. The seven member advisory board has distributed a total of $349,000 since its inception in 2001. Eligibility for funds is limited to two categories: • • Entities and activities located in the Siletz Tribe’s 11-county service area (Lincoln, Tillamook, Linn, Lane, Benton, Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties) Native American entities and activities located anywhere in the United States Tribal Council of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon in elections held on Feb. 1. Butler, from Siletz, Ore., was re elected with 407 votes; Hatch, from Portland, Ore., received 321; and Miller, from Logsden, Ore., received 292. These individuals will serve with Lillie Butler of Siletz, Mary A. “Dolly” Fisher of Siletz, and Delores Pigsley of Salem, Ore., whose terms expire in 2004; and Jessie Davis of Salem, Jane John of Salem, and Rosemary Landis of Brightwood, Ore., whose terms expire in 2005. On Feb. 3, the re-elected council members were sworn into office and the Reggie Butler Sr (I), JoAnn Miller, and David R. Hatch are sworn into office. Tribal Council selected its officers. Pigsley will again serve as chairman, with Davis as vice chairman, Miller as secretary, and John as treasurer. Voters defeated a measure to Prayers for Dolly Fisher Tribal Council member Mary A. “Dolly” Fisher suffered a stroke on Feb. 13 and was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, Ore. She remains hospitalized, with paralysis affecting the left side of her body. Please keep Dolly and the rest of the Fisher family in your thoughts and prayers. The measure, which would have increased these salaries from $9.83/hour to $21.63/hour, failed by a margin of 289 for to 558 against. Eight hundred and seventy ballots were cast out of the 1,755 ballots that were sent out. Election Director Dan Van Otten credited the Election Board with a smooth-running election. Tina Retasket, Lisa Norton, Stephanie Morrow, and Rebekah Goulet (alternate) made up this year’s Election Board.
