It’s Happening at Chinook Winds ... by Teresa Simmons Rockin’ Roadhouse Tour Features Mark Chesnutt, Joe Diffie, and Tracy Lawrence McKenzie River Band McKenzie River Band Plays Country Dance Series Pull on your boots and get ready to two-step to the sounds of the McKenzie River Band. Chinook Winds Casino & Convention Center invites country music lovers to “Live a Little” as it presents a monthly country dance in the convention center, complete with a super-sized dance floor, a no-host bar, and one hour of free dance lessons an hour before the dance. The McKenzie River Band, former winners of the Marlboro Talent Round- Up, has opened for Billy Dean, Marty Stuart, George Strait, and Alabama. It has been nominated for the Northwest Area Music Association’s NAMA Award for the Top Country Act in the Northwest and has won the Portland Music Association’s Crystal Award for Portland’s Outstanding Country Act. Dances will take place on Oct. 18 and Nov. 29. Tickets, priced at $7 in advance and $10 on the day of the show, are available at the box office. Big Band Lovers Can Live a Little at Swing Thing Put on your zoot suit and get ready to jump and jive to the swing ing groove of a big band. Chinook Winds Casino invites swing lovers to “Live a Little” as it presents It’s a Swing Thing, a monthly swing band dance in the convention center. Doors open at 2 p.m. and couples will be offered the chance to brush up on their dancing skills with free dance lessons from to 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The - 22 * □ ' Siletz News dance is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a no-host bar will be available. Music will be provided by the Coastal Swing Band featuring vocalist Jo Ann Jordan, formerly of the Harry James Orchestra. It’s a Swing Thing will take place on Oct. 20, Nov. 17, and Dec. 1. Tickets, priced at $7 in advance and $10 on the day of the show, are available at the box office. Mark Chesnutt, Joe Diffie, and Tracy Lawrence are bringing all that and more to this year’s must-see concert experience - the Rockin’ Roadhouse Tour that comes to Chinook Winds Casino on Nov. 1 and 2. As veteran hit makers, each is responsible for some of the era’s most memorable songs and each is able to fill a solo show with chart-toppers. With all three onstage in one evening - including times when all three appear together - fans will get a rare opportunity to experience an entire evening of non-stop hits. And it will, literally, be non-stop. Each of the three has selected key band members, putting together one superband to back them all up. Once the show gets under way, there are no set changes and no downtime. Tickets range from $30 to $50, depending on seat location. Show time is 8 p.m. each evening. Comedy Night on the Coast Chinook Winds Casino invites you to become hysterical, laugh until your sides ache, and giggle with uncontrolled glee at Comedy Night on the Coast. Approximately every four weeks, on Friday and Saturday evening, a trio of comedians will perform in a 90-minute show. Each will do a 30-minute spot. The next Comedy Night on the Coast is set for Oct. 18 and 19 with Roger Peltz as the headliner. Alonzo Bodden will be the featured act and Mike “Wally” Walter will host. Comedy has always been the focal point for the talents of comedian/ impressionist Roger Peltz. For more than 20 years, he has performed live on movies. A seasoned voice-over veteran, stage, television, radio, and in spokesperson and comedy writer, Peltz an on-camera actor, Dubbed “Mr. Voicatility,” he also has entertained worldwide, with Rick Dees, Gary Owens, has written and performed Dick Purton.
