Osbourne was celebrating his fifth wedding anniversary and already had won $50 on the 25-cent Wheel of Fortune progressive when it hit. Just four days earlier, Kenneth “Bo” Oliver won $819,735 on the $1 Wheel of Fortune progressive at Chinook Winds. Oliver is from Coos Bay, Ore., and was in Lincoln City for a meeting. He was visiting Chinook Winds between sessions and had only invested $20 when the lights and sirens let him know he hit the MegaJackpot. Oliver says he knew he had won, but was not aware of the amount. As for his winnings, Oliver plans to invest in real estate and help his children. Osbourne’s jackpot is the eighth and largest to be paid out at the casino, beating the old record of $695,036, set in March of this year, by $124,000. Chinook Winds now has awarded just under $3.3 million in MegaJackpots since 1996. Paul Revere organized The Raiders in 1958. Since then, it’s been one wild performance after another, with 25 consecutive hit singles, eight gold albums, and nearly 50 million records sold. Louie Louie, Ooh Poo Pah Doo, Just Like Me, Kicks, Hungry, Good Thing, and Indian Reservation are among the group’s many hits. Indian Reservation sold nearly 3 million singles, making it the biggest-selling record for Columbia Records in 10 years. In 1965-1966, the group was featured on ABC’s five-day-a-week network show, Where The Action Is, produced by Dick Clark. In 1968-1969, Paul Revere co-hosted the weekly ABC series Happening, which featured The Raiders. They’ve done numerous TV and radio commercials, been featured on many TV shows, and have performed thousands of concerts in North America and Europe. Paul Revere, the only remaining member of the original group, has been called the “mad man of rock ‘n’ roll” for good reason. On stage, he carries on with maniacal glee, as if he wants to get in the last laugh before the men in the white coats carry him off. Although members of the band have changed over time, the on-stage excitement has remained supercharged and the quality of music has only improved. It’s truly a “blast from the past.” Concert time is 8 p.m. each night. Ticket prices range from $15 to $30, depending on seat location. Smokey Robinson, The Miracle Man, to Perform Smokey Robinson brings the silky sounds of Motown to Chinook Winds Casino on July 19 and 20. A founding Motown executive, songwriter, and producer, Robinson began his career fronting The Miracles as well as composing tunes for other Motown acts. While performing with The Miracles, his songwriting credits included R&B and rock standards, including Shop A round, Going To A Go- Go, You ’ve Really Got A Hold On Me, Tears Of A Clown, Ooh Baby Baby, I Second That Emotion, and More Love. Robinson is just as renowned for the songs he composed for other Motown artists, including classics like The Temptations’ My Girl, Get Ready, and The Way You Do The Things You Do; Mary Wells’ You Beat Me To The Punch, My Guy, and Two Lovers; Marvin Gaye’s Ain’t That Peculiar and I’ll Be Doggone; and The Marvelettes’ Don’t Mess With Bill. Robinson's songs have been recorded by a diverse array of artists worldwide, including The Beatles, D’Angelo, Terence Trent D’Arby, Aretha Franklin, The Jackson 5, Massive Attack, Dolly Parton, The Rolling Stones, and others. Robinson has 36 top-40 hits to his credit. He has received the “Living Legend” Grammy Award and has been inducted into both the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. He also is a recipient of the Soul Train “Heritage Award” and MARAS “Lifetime Achievement Award.” With a voice as smooth as silk and as timeless as the passions he sings about, Robinson’s music has never lost its smoldering allure. He still sings with the same sensual passion that generations of Americans have come to love. As Robinson puts it, “My songs are written about love. It’s an everlasting subject. Love always has significance and it never goes out of style.” Concert time is 8 p.m. each night. Ticket prices range from $30 to $55, depending on seat location.
