Hourly door prize drawings for a variety of gifts will take place. Many exhibitors will have their own drawings. Chinook Winds will offer a special senior breakfast on opening day, July 10. Senior Fair 2001 is sponsored by the Lincoln City Chapter of AARP, the Lincoln City Senior Center, Chinook Winds, The News Guard, KBCH Radio, and All Ways Traveling. AARP state offices will be closed, except for phone calls, during the two- day event so the staff can meet its members at the fair. “We have invited back some of the same entertainment we enjoyed last year,” said Roger Robertson, “But, in addition, we hope to have an old-time player piano, lots of big band music, and a few surprises we are still working on.” Exhibits for Senior Fair 2001 include Factory Stores @ Lincoln City, Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital, Pacific West Ambulance, Wells Fargo Bank, Dorchester House, Robben Heating, Shilo Inn, and Radio Shack. A variety of new booths this year include Dennis Johnson at Coast Property and Investment, Bank of the West, R&J Mobility, Washington Federal, Lincoln City Rehab, North Coast Home Care, TLC Credit Union, Solar Direct, Killers Pest Control, The Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce, and the Visitors and Convention Bureau. Booth space is going fast. “Booths not sold will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis to non-profits,” said Roger Robertson. Any non-profit that wants to be involved can purchase a 10’ x 10’ skirted booth at a $100 discount. Those wishing more information can call All Ways Traveling in Lincoln City at 541-996-7474 or Nationwide at 1-800-984-4968. Some unfinished business involving the original group got them together again. To their surprise, they found that they all shared the same resurgence of interest in music and a growing desire to try it all over again. Traveling only during the summer, the group performs their hit songs such as “Joy To The World,” “An Old- Fashioned Love Song,” “Eli’s Coming,” “One,” “Easy To Be Hard,” “Mama Told Me Not To Come,” and “Shambala.” Three Dog Night to Perform Come “Celebrate” with Three Dog Night at Chinook Winds Casino on July 20 and 21. When the group struck gold with “Joy to the World” in 1971, fans worldwide acclaimed their driving pop/ rock sound and powerful harmonies. Today, Three Dog Night delivers its signature sound to audiences spanning generations. The current line-up features founding members Cory Wells and Danny Hutton on lead vocals as well as original keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon and lead guitarist Michael Allsup. Paul Kingery (bass) and Patrick Bautz (drums) also have joined the group. Formed originally in 1968 by Hutton with the novel concept of showcasing lead singers who also could harmonize together, the group was enormously successful right from the start. They toured extensively during the early ‘70s. By 1975, however, the rigors of nonstop roadwork caught up with the group. “We became disenchanted,” Wells says today. “We just quietly backed out of the picture. We always had a sort of verbal agreement that we were never going to exploit the public for our own gain. We were not going to do four or five ‘farewell tours’ just to rake in the money. We had come on the scene quietly and we were going to leave the same way, with dignity.” July 2001
