We have gotten our Planning, Grant Writer, and Economic Development staff up and running smoothly. Other positions within the Siletz office and health clinic have been filled; some have been vacant for awhile. The Chinook Winds Casino celebrated its fifth anniversary. The solstices and pow-wows have been well attended. The only disruption this Mary “Dolly ” Fisher year has been the Notice of Violation with the Tribal Council or AKA Board of Directors for the casino. There have been no violations. but the struggle still goes on. The Internet and perhaps some disgruntled ex-Tribal Council recallees have access through the National Indian Gaming Commission, so the report has gone nationwide. Our legal staff has come up with a name of a previous tribal chairman who has been involved. There are others, many family members of the five recalled persons. Over 200 tribes have supported the Siletz Council. A present Council member has access to all of the confidential information and we know that is shared.
