It’s Happening at Chinook Winds ... by Teresa Simmons “BIG 3” Drawing, Phase 2 Three chances to win $25,000 in cash! This promotion was previously advertised as the Halloween $25,000 Cash Drawing. The first phase took place on Oct. 28 and 29. On both Nov. 11 and Nov. 12, six names will be drawn, one every hour beginning at noon, with the final contestant announced at 5 p.m. On Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m., the 12 lucky finalists will each choose a key. One of these keys will open a cash box containing $25,000! Remaining entry forms will be carried over to the Dec. 16 and 17 (phase 3) drawing and a third chance at $25,000 in the Chinook Winds “BIG 3” cash drawing! Three New Regional Sales Executives on Board Chinook Winds has expanded its sales staff to include three more regional sales executives. Kent Strickler, Joe Williams, and Steve Chrisman were hired in September to bring the usage of the 20,000-square- foot convention center, the largest on the Oregon Coast, to its highest potential. Kent Strickler, a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz, is a native of Lincoln County. He attended Evergreen State College near Olympia, Wash., and graduated with a BA in business. While attending college, he was selected to attend the Summer Venture Program in Management at Harvard Business School in Boston, Mass. Strickler also completed a summer internship program with Dean Witter Reynolds. Strickler’s past accomplishments include owning and operating his own timber corporation, wholesale sales manager for the Siletz Tribal Smokehouse, international trade specialist for the American Indian Trade Council and general manager of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz. He stated that he is “pleased with the opportunity and looking forward to connecting with many clients.” 24 Kent Strickler Joe Williams, originally a native of Ohio and a Wright State University graduate, has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 15 years. Holding positions in management, marketing, and sal^s, his experience with hotels, resorts, and conference centers includes service in Ohio, Virginia, Texas, Washington, and Oregon. According to Williams, “Chinook Winds Casino and Convention Center is a fantastic site in which to host an event. Meeting planners in the region are just beginning to discover the benefits of hosting a meeting or convention here on the coast in our incredibly flexible center.” Williams will base his office in Vancouver, Wash. Steve Chrisman has a sales background in business machines, telecommunications packages, and real estate. He spent four years as a territory sales rep for R.J. Reynolds in Seattle, Anchorage, and Portland. Raised in the Northeast part of the U.S., Chrisman graduated from Southern Oregon University in 1994 with a BS in business administration (concentration: marketing). When asked how he felt about his new position, Chrisman stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work at such a spendid gaming establishment. The rest of 2000 and all of 2001 are going to be great. It is my intention to help make Chinook Winds the premier convention location in the Northwest.” Chrisman, Williams, and Strickler join veteran sales executive Martin Wheeler, who has been with the casino for several years, to make a four-man team.
