Their songs, “Hold On, I’m Comin,” “I Thank You,” “When Something Is Wrong With My Baby,” “Soul Sister, Brown Sugar,” and “Wrap It Up,” climbed both the pop and R&B charts internationally. Sam & Dave served as the inspiration for Dan Akroyd and John Belushi s Saturday Night Live parody, The Blues Brothers, when they covered the duo’s 1967 million-selling, Grammy winning “Soul Man” and exposed a new generation of fans to their music. Although Moore’s partner Dave Prater died in an auto accident in 1988, Moore continues to perform their music solo, to the delight of audiences far and wide. They’ve done numerous TV and radio commercials, been featured on many TV shows, and have performed in North America and Europe. Paul Revere, the only remaining member of the original group, has been called “Mad Man of Rock ‘n’ Roll” for good reason. Onstage, Revere carries on with maniacal glee, as if he wants to get in the last laugh before the men in the white coats carry him off. Although the members of the band have changed over time, the onstage excitement has remained supercharged and the quality of music has only improved. It’s truly a “blast from the past.” Concert times are 8 p.m. Friday and 7 and 10 p.m. Saturday.
