NOTICES Save Money at Newport Apartments Get Your Picture Taken The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians has entered into an agreement with the Little Creek Apartments in Newport. Zero Down Home Loans Available The Oregon Housing and Community Services Department (OHCSD) and the Rural Housing Service (RHS) are offering rural Oregonians home loans with exceptional terms - no down payment and a below-market interest rate of 5.95 percent. Properties eligible for the loan must be located in rural areas and the borrowers must meet certain program requirements. RHS considers rural areas to include open country and communities with populations of not more than 10,000. If a community is rural in character and outside of a larger metropolitan area, the population of the community may be up to 20,000. A household’s annual income must not exceed $45,100 statewide and $52,400 for Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Multnomah, Washington or Yamhill counties. Income limits in some cases are more restrictive, depending on the borrower’s household size. Siletz Tribal Gaming Commission Public Meeting Here are some low-fare tips that I would like to pass on to each one of you: July 14,1999 4-6 p.m. Chinook Winds Gaming and Convention Center Tututni Room 1777 NW 44th St. Lincoln City, Oregon ( Make your plans as far in advance as possible. Many fares have advance purchase requirements, most commonly 21 days, 14 days, seven days, and sometimes, three days. ( Consider flying round-trip. Sometimes a round-trip itinerary is cheaper than two one-way trips. Umatilla Tribe Changes Land Ordinance The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation recently passed an ordinance regarding the inheritance of tribal land. The tribe is seeking to prevent the loss of tribal land to non-tribal members upon the death of a tribal member or other owners of these lands. Non-Umatilla-tribal individuals who may potentially inherit tribal land will have a set amount of time to apply for and receive membership in the Umatilla tribe or may be paid the fair market value for the land. Additional provisions have been made for the deceased person’s spouse and children. Other restrictions may apply. Individuals who may be affected by this ordinance should contact Ronald Kortlever, superintendent of the Siletz Agency of the BIA, at 541-444-2597 to get answers to their questions. ( Stay over a Saturday night. Usually is cheaper to stay over a Saturday night. ( Different days and times. Low-demand travel days generally are Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Low-demand times are often on late-evening flights. High- demand days are Friday and Sunday. ( Ask if discounts apply. Discounts are available for senior citizens, children age 2 to 11, group travel (sometimes as few as six), military discounts, companion fares, bereavement fares, coupons you may have, etc. Just ask. ( Make holiday plans early. Holidays and school vacations are the highest-demand travel times. The earlier you plan, the better your chance of getting the lowest fare.
