Tribal member appointed Compliance Officer for Chinook Winds Siletz tribal member Cy H ill was recently appointed Compli ance Officer for Chinook Winds Casino. Mr. Hill was an original Tribal Gaming Commissioner for the Siletz Tribe. C y's experience includes four years in, the USMC and over six years law enforce ment including five years as an LAPD officer and one year as Chief of Police for the Sauk- Suiattle Tribe in Washington. , Cy says that he and his family are delighted to be back home on the Oregon Coast. In memory of C.T. “Swede” Castle Alissa Lane awarded OSU scholarship Services were held Tuesday, May 5, 1998, for C.T. "Swede" Castle who passed away April 30, 1998 in Falls City, Oregon. Mr. Castle was bom July 22, 1916 in Siletz, Oregon. He was a friend to many in the Siletz area and shall be missed. A lissa Lane, Siletz Tribal member and Toledo High School senior, is one of eight SMILE participants awarded scholarships through the OSU Scholars Program. SMILE is the Science and M ath Investigative Learning Experience sponsored through OSU. Recipients of this award were chosen for their academic accomplishments, participation in high school and community activities; and their thoughtful responses to essay questions. Their essays were about the responsibilities of educated persons, their commitment to diversity, and their own visions for the future. Congratulations, Alissa!
