I Clrtamas Prrt SEPTEMBER 26.2016thectódamasprnlcom You don’t have to sit in your car playing Solitaire or taking selfies or watching the clock as you sing along to the words, "A ll by myself. ” Cut the power and get out there because there are plenty o f things to do on the Oregon C ity cam pus. Here are a few ideas. Grab a bite. So your mommy isn’ t packing your lunches anymore. You don’ t have to starve. The Cougar Café is located inside the C o m m u n ity C enter. I t ’ s open M o n d ay- Thursday 7 a.m . to 5 p.m . and Friday 7 a.m . to 2 p.m . There you’ll find reasonably priced sandwiches, wraps, bowls, and pizza by the slice from Pizza Schm izza, all tested and deemed yum m y by The Print staff. Check out the m enu at www.triohosp.com/ccc/ cougar_cafe. If you prefer snacks and 5-Hour Energy drinks, you can get that and more in the bookstore, located in M cL o ugh lin H all. Student Jacob Green said he likes to stop by the bookstore and grab an Arizona tea during his breaks. Bonus: they also have hamburger socks. If, by Thursday, your refrigerator is bare and your stom ach is roaring, stop by the Com m unity Center where free food will be available every week from 9 a.m . to 1 p .m . G e t in a w o rk o u t. W alk in g, ru n n in g, lifting, sports. Whatever you like to do to bum o ff that pizza, you can probably get it done on campus. Go for a w alk or a run along the 2.2 -m ile trail or explore all 165 acres o f the Oregon City campus. Catch all the Pokemon. Bring your racket and play tennis on the courts behind Randall H all, while they last. A new building will soon take their place. Get your cardio or lifting done in the fitness center, located in the lower level o f Randall H all and open Monday through Friday. And keep your eyes open for the upcoming intramural sports that the A SG puts on every term. Study. W ell come on. You have to. And there’ s no lack o f places to do it on campus. Study, that is. If the sun is shining and if you’re outdoorsy like that, just pick a favorite spot somewhere and get to it. But because it’ s Oregon, you should know the indoor spots. The Dye L earn in g C e n te r, aka " th e library,” is one good place to study. It’s a library, so people have to be quiet, and that’s good. Also there are com puters. You can use them and print all your stuff. Then, if you can’t find all the answers on Wikipedia, there’s another option in this library. It’ s books. The staff is super helpful if you’ve forgotten how to use the Dewey Decimal System. If Wiki and books don’ t do the trick, student tutors hang out in the library too. O therw ise, y o u ’ll find study areas in nearly every building on campus, which is convenient w hen you need to sit outside your classroom and finish that assignm ent you forgot about. Enjoy the view . Flora, fauna, fountains. Stu ff like that. Take a walk around cam pus, and you’ ll notice sculptures by local artists. Between R and all H all and Barlow H a ll, th ere’ s a fo u n tain designed and constructed by CCC students (perfect outdoor homework spot). Inside Niemeyer Hall is the Alexander Art Gallery. There, Portland-based artist Anne Mavor’s "I Am My W hite Ancestors: Claim ing the Legacy o f O ppression,” will be on exhibit through Oct. 28. If you feel like com bining that workout w ith taking in the view, w alk all the way out to the Environmental Learning Center’s N ew ell Creek Headw aters or the H om e Orchard Society Arboretum (you could even taste test an apple or pear). The C lack am as Repertory T heatre is p resenting the play through O ct. 2 w ith shows Thursdays-Saturdays at 7:30 p.m . and Sundays at 2:30 p .m . in Osterman Theatre. Maybe you’ll decide you like theater so much that you want to be in the next production. If so, the main stage auditions are scheduled for Sep t. 28 from 3-5 p .m . in O sterm an Theatre. No theater experience required! Those are just a few o f the many ways to prevent your death from boredom during breaks.
