Whether it was shooting or guarding, Fife led the game until rolling his nkle before the second half. The Cougars lost 104-88. Games this Week Men’s Basketball Today, vs. Portland (home) at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9, at Linn-Benton (Albany) at 6 p.m. Wrestling Feb. 9, Region 18 Championships (home) 10 a.m. Women’s Basketball Today, vs. Portland (home) at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 9, at Linn-Benton (Albany) at 4 p.m. This past week, men’s basketball got their game back, while women’s basketball lost their grip on their winning streak. The men’s basketball team was defeated by Chemeketa last Wednesday 70-85 but dominated over Lane on Saturday, winning the game 96-78. Women’s basketball was defeated in both of their games: they lost 47-55 to Chemeketa and 42-78 to Lane. This is a big upset to the team's six wins in a row. “It was a big letdown after knocking off the top- ranked team in the previous game,” said Women’s Basketball Coach Jim Martineau. ‘1 think we expected to show up and the opponent was going to give it to is.” “Obviously, we struggled most of die game offensively,” he added. 'The first half, our defense did a good job keeping it close. We were down 25- 31 with less than four minutes to play in the half... Lane [closed] the half on a 9-0 run. “[The] second half [was] more of the same; we battled hard, but their depth was too much for us. The last 10 minutes got really sloppy.” This brings the women’s standings to 5-4 in league play and 15-8 in season play. The men’s standings are now 6-3 in league play and 14-10 in season play. Both tire men’s and women’s teams will face off against Portland Community College in a home game today. The women will play at 5:30 p.m. and die men at 7:30 p.m. in the Randall Gym. Their next game will be Feb. 9 in Albany against Linn-Benton. The women will play at 4 p.m., and the men will play at 6 p.m.
