October 20, 2004 ■riday night’ lights up the big screen inda Polopolus Clackamas Print day Night Lights” is a capti- and powerful story about a ¡hoof football team that put ban sweat, grass, and blood in their jerseys; they put their hearts into the game. Personally, I am not a huge football fan, and I know very little about the game, but “Friday Night Lights” grasped my attention. This story takes you inside the lives of the young football players, and shows you how this game is Internet Photo ¡Gary Gaines (Billy Bob Thorton) rallys his players for a game. more than their life, for some it holds their future. The movie shows you every side of each player’s personality; you get to see the football star, the son, the friend, and the seventeen-year- olds in all of them. Being undefeated, the team’s goal is to win the state champi onship. With college scouts watching and the whole commu nity cheering them on, the pres sure to be “perfect” grows larger and larger. The team puts their all into every practice, and strives to win every game. This movie really takes you into the life of a seventeen-year- old. I liked it because it shows adults, possibly parents, that like their lives, being a teenager can be overwhelming. It’s a time where you’re trying to figure out who you are and what your future holds for you. This movie did a superb job dis playing the latter and die pressures that high school students undertake. All in all, this movie was powerful, breath-taking, and most of all, inspiring. “Friday Night Lights” deserves your full attention from start to finish.
