" / J Read the review on page 5 Famous trumpeters come to CCC News Editor The CCC Concert Band, directed by Dave Mills, will host and perform tonight at Clackamas’ Winter Band Concert. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Gregory Forum where the band will be playing a number of rehearsed pieces. In addition to Concert Band performances, Clackamas is proud to welcome three of the top West Coast Trumpeters to tonight’s show. The first trumpeter, Rich Cooper, has played with a number of Big Bands and top artists. Cooper played lead trumpet with the Buddy Rich Big Band and also in Woodie Herman’s Big Band. He also spent a number of years in Las Vegas per forming shows as a back-up trum peter for such entertainers as Frank Sinatra, Wayne Newton and Tony Bennett. He even toured with the late “King of Rock and Roll,” Elvis Presley. Cooper teaches lessons with “practical and usable knowledge,” by appointment, according to his infor mational handout. Mark Gaulke, a University of Portland graduate, has been a first call lead trumpet player on high demand in the Portland Metro area. He’s worked many shows and has backed numerous nationally known acts that come to Portland, including the Broadway hit Chicago. He has worked locally with Norman Laden’s concert series and also played in the Woodie Hite Big Band. The third featured trumpeter for the show tonight is Dick Titterington. Titterington is new to the area. He has spent many years on the road per forming for Broadway shows such as Titanic, Chicago, West Side Story, and even spent a six-year run on the national tour of the hit musical “Cats.” “He is really an excellent trum peter,” said Director Dave Mills. Titterington also has a full length album currently in stores titled “Amber Eyes” which was released in 1997 and has “gar nered favorable reviews,” according to Jazz Times maga zine. The cost for the evening is $5. The show is tonight at 7:30 p.m in the Gregory Forum.
