The first game of the April 23 doubleheader against Mt. Hood was yet another Cougar loss, with a final of 6-5. Josh Gaylord threw for the Cougars and pitched a good game, ac cording to Head Coach Robin Robinson. Gaylord allowed six runs off of eight hits, with three runs earned. He also struck out six Mt. Hood players, while walking only one. The Cougar offense kept the game close, as Colin Griffin was three-for-five, with an RBI, and Scott Hunter went two-for-five with two runs. Tom Henderson and Jesse Gaylord each knocked in two RBIs, but their attempts were not enough to seal the deal, as the Cougars fell to their 17th overall loss. This Friday, Tobey Maguire will play Track boy act for a more thuggish and vio lent persona, I felt that the Lakers guard would be a perfect fit for the role. As for “Star Wars Episode II: At tack of the Clones,” the part of Anakin Sky walker would be better played by Jeff Gordon instead of Hayden Christiansen. Gordon, who burst onto the NASCAR racing circuit in 1993, showed great promise as a driver. He fits well into the role of Anakin, a Jedi knight who learns to use The Force with cunning ability, but somewhere along the line he slips to “the dark side.” Over the past nine years, Gordon has been regarded as a dirty racer who continues to win races, all the while ticking more and more fans off. And now, his wife has filed for divorce, al leging that the former Winston Cup Rookieof the Year cheated on her. Stay Want to see some great track athletes perform? On the other side of the coin, the villain in “Attack of the Clones,” Count Dooker, should have been played by the Trail Blazers’ Ruben Patterson, who pled guilty to third- degree rape this past summer. Who better to portray a light saber-wield ing man who uses his stick for the wrong reason? In the hot and sultry department, Anna Kournikova should have been cast to play Daphne, the stunning redhead in “Scooby Doo.” Yes, I Peter Parker, a.k.a. SpiderMan, in the film by the same name. My pick would have been former Notre Dame football coach George O’ Leary, for his talent in spinning webs of lies that eventu ally cost him his job. Kobe Bryant gets my nod for the part of Jason Boume in “The Bourne Identity,” instead of Academy Award winner Matt Damon. In this movie, the first part of what will be yet another trilogy, Bourne catches a bad case of amnesia and forgets who he really is. £ince it has been reported this season realize that Anna is blonde, but Sa rah Michelle Gellar is a brunette, so come on. Who would you rather watch this summer, a vampire killer or a mediocre tennis star? Perhaps it was the Enrique Iglesias video or her sexy advertisements, but I would pay good money to see Anna in a summer movie. 7o reach Nick Barron e-mail barronoru@hotmail.com or drop that Bryant is losing his pretty, rich by B-104 ■3?'
