David Smith-English opens doors to new levels of directing in the murder mys tery farce “Communicating Doors” which opens at 8:00 p.m. Nov. 15 in McLoughlin Hall Theatre and runs through Nov. 18. After a short break, it opens again Nov. 29, playing un til Dec. 2. What you are about to read is a preview of the play’s setting,, characters and plots as they unfold and even tually take an ironic twist of fate that will bring several of the characters closer to gether. When I say preview I mean a glimpse into the play itself, hopefully, entic ing readers to visit McLoughlin Hall Theatre on the play dates and watch the events that unfold before their very eyes. The play begins in the year 2014 when society is in the throes of war. Set in a five- star hotel in London, secrets of the past and present begin to unravel. The location includes views of at least four doorways that will pin point the bedroom, the bathroom, the hallway and the “communicating door,” which is eventually found to be a time warp that carries its passengers 20 years into the past. It is a small cupboard-like area that is large enough for one per son to fit through. After all isn’t See communicating, page 4 George Fox teams up with Clackamas,offers new degree MAGGIE JIRASEK Editor-in-Chief Clackamas will be of fering a new degree comple tion program starting winter term, giving working adults the opportunity to complete college degrees through George Fox University. “Students can work to wards a bachelor’s degree in business and organizational leadership through the pro gram,” said Theresa Tuffli, accelerated degree program department chair. "Students need to know that they can complete degrees through George Fox at Clackamas. They don't have to go out all the way to Newberg any more." Clackamas is already offering degree completion programs in business through an agreement with Portland State University. Adults with at least five years work ex perience attend class one night a week and a few Sat urdays a month to work to ward completion of a bachelor’s degree in six terms. It is the first time that George Fox University and Clackamas have teamed up to make it convenient for working adults in the area. George Fox professors in the program will travel to Clackamas Monday evenings to teach class. George Fox is a Chris tian liberal arts college and was the first college in the Northwest to enable nontra- ditional students to complete college degrees in an acceler ated program.
