The movie is a medieval ro mantic-adventure with an added touch of humor. Heath Ledger portrays a young squire, William Thatcher, who works his way up the jousting circuit after taking on a fake identity. As Ulrich Von Lichtenstein, William sets out to achieve his lifelong dream of being a knight, or as his father says, “to change his stars.” While winning numerous jousting and swordplay compe titions held across Eu rope, William excels at jousting and de feats many knights. With his two pals, Roland and Wat, who accompany him on this journey as varlets, Wi 11 i am manages to keep his true identity a se cret from the aristoc racy he is rubbing shoulders with. Joining William and his friends is a crazy, gambling-ad dicted scribe named Geoffrey Heath Ledger (William), Mark Addy (Roland), Paul Bettany Chaucer.
