CHRISTINA MUELLER Co-Editor-in-Chief A mock registration took place last Friday to help employees working with the process learn how to use the new Datatel system and follow new registration procedures. The mock registration also pro vided employees with a chance to de termine exactly how long the regis tration process might take with the new systems, which will give them an idea of proper staffing to have on hand and when to schedule appointments. The new process, which is expected to make registration go more smoothly,, will be implemented in time for early fall registration which takes place dur ing the week of May 18-22. New services that will be provided with early fall registration include ad ditional payment options such as hav ing the opportunity to schedule classes and make arrangements for payment later. In-person registration will give stu dents the chance to update their stu dent record and register for classes all in one place. This will initially be done during individual advising/ reg istration sessions and take place in th’e Help Center thereafter. Beginning with Summer Term reg istration, students will also be able to register by phone seven days a week from 7 am. to midnight for up to 19 credit hours. There will be an option to add and delete classes using the touch-tone telephone registration sys tem. Also beginning with Summer Term registration, students will be able to register by mail for up to 19 credit hours. More information on the new ( processes being offered is available in the summer schedule of classes or in the packet that students should be re ceiving in the mail shortly. Important dates: Early Fall Advis ing/ Registration sessions for returning students May 18-22, Early Fall Regis tration for returning students May 26- Aug. 20, Summer Term Registration June 1-25, Graduation Ceremony: GED/Adult High School Diploma June 11, Certificate and degree pro grams June 12, Summer Term Classes Begin June 22, Early Fall Advising/ Registration for new students July 7- Aug. 12, Last day to pay or make ar rangements for payment of Early Fall Registration Classes Aug. 20. Focus on environment The third annual Environmental Week, sponsored by As sociated Student Government (ASG) and Helping Everyone’s Environment Live (HEEL), will take place May 18-22. Events such as live bands and environmental awareness talks will take place each day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the courtyard between Barlow and the Community Center, There will be a pasta bar available on Monday, Wednes day and Friday. Frisbees and mugs will be given away dur ing a variety of games and contests. In addition to several environmentally friendly groups, a few local political can didates will also be on hand throughout the week.
