Cougars Upset Lane Ron Schaumberg receives relay pass from Ralph Painter at recent OCCAA meet. Cougars won the Lane-favored meet 129-94. Trackers display early power The Clackamas Community College wo men's track team showed their power over several colleges twice this past week with second and first place finishes at the Oregon College of Education (OCE) Invitational Thursday, and the Linfield Invitational Sat urday. Competing against eight colleges at the OCE meet, the Cougar women took second place to only the home team. Although the Clackamas squad captured the most first places, they were overcome by the Wolve's numbers. Coach Roger Smith's young team man aged five new school records and several seasons bests. Both the mile and 440 yd. relay teams took first places and established new records. The mile relay squad of Tammy Likens, Debbie Leathers, Verna Simon, and Amanda Eggleston ran a 4:25 time. The 440 yd. relay turned in a 51.8 record, run ning the race were Cindy Peterson, Barb Johnson, Tammy Likens, and Amanda Eg gleston. Capturing other first places for the Cou gars were Verna Simon in the 440 yd. inter mediate hurdles with a 71.5 time, Karen liam's winning throw in the shot-put, and Amanda Eggleston's 62.6 440 yd dash win. Among top honors Cougar women took were the mile relay, with a time of 4:24.7, a new school and meet record. Running the relay for Clackamas were Tammy Likens, Verna Simon, Sandy Killian, and Amanda Eggleston. Verna Simon set a new school record with her 69.5 intermediate hurdle victory. Barbara Johnson took the 100-meter high hurdles in 15.7 and was followed to the tape by Verna Simon, running a 16.5. Johnson set a new meet record, breaking the old record of 1 6.8 set in 1 976. Debbie Leathers captured the 800-meter run with a time of 1:28.9, a new school record. Sandy Killian was second in the 800 with her 2:35 time. Killian and Jean Sandwick both ran dou bles for Clackamas, along with her 800 meter second, Killian took another second in the 5000 meter and Sandwick ran both the 1500 and 3000 meters, racking up two more seconds for the Cougars. Besides her winning leg on the 400-meter f : and mile relay, Eggleston scored - firsts in the 400-meter dash with a time of 61.9 and in the 200-meter dash where she clocked 27 seconds flat, both school and meet records. At the Oregon Community Coll letic Association Invitational, ll amas Cougar squad upset Lane Cot by beating the favored team 129to Cougars won the first annual OCCA that was held on the Clackai® Kelly Sullivan won the 300-metei chase for CCC, with a time of Oregon City's Alan Knoop tod mile for Clackamas in 31-09.7. Joel Jolt Lane also cleared that height, but won with fewer misses. Jeff Harmon had two seconfl ishes for the Cougars. He had ata in the shot and set a school recoril javelin with a heave of 201-2. Hadley, in addition to his”vM in the long jump, was secondini vault at 13-0 and third in the tri at 42-8, behind Dave Reed, alsool amas, who jumped 42-10 1/2. Hood Colleges, Clackamas racked up a 98 point score, 35 points ahead of nearest competitor Linfield. In the javelin competition, Tami Wulf tossed the spear 128-2 to take second place and set a new school record.
