Sports Shoreline defeats Cougars, 2-1 College. Clackamas lost the contest in a regulation time decision of 1-2. Clackamas lost a second game to Shoreline Community Col lege by a score of 0-4. The team arrived at Shoreline just a half hour before the game was to start, and Neshved noted that his players seemed stiff and tired. Shoreline dominated the contest with 35 shots on goal, while Clackamas could only manage 6. The Cougars scored first on a head shot by Kevin Gratiot off a corner kick. According to Coach Neshved, the game was close with no one dominate team, but At one point in the game, Shoreline took a shot that Zook managed to deflect, but Shoreline intercepted an errant pass and put the ball into the net. Neshved said that Zook Clackamas made mistakes which contributed to their loss. By Julie Miller Of The Print Wednesday, Oct. 15, the College’s soccer team played what Coach Marty Neshved called a fairly even game against Tacoma Community “In the second half we dominated (the game), but we just couldn’t put the ball on target,” Neshved said. In action last Saturday, “They attacked and attack ed,” Neshved said of Shoreline, “Ryan Zook was playing goalie and he had a lot of saves. He has a great head for the position.” Clackamas fared better in Cougar v-ball plays 'worst game ’ yet • if CHRIS PFIEFER (9) WORKS ball toward opponents goal the second half, running the same play that had gotten them a goal at Tacoma. A PUBLIC SERVICE MESSAGE FROM THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE Of The Print Saturday seemed to prove the adage that says “It’s always darkest before the dawn.” Dawn didn’t come, and it was still dark as Clackamas fell to Southwestern Oregon Com munity College, but a glimmer worked it’s way onto the horizon. Even though Woods’ team was defeated 6-15, 15-9, 4-15, 9-15, she thought that her team played well. “We expected them to be the toughest team we would have to play, but we had no place else to go from Friday’s game but up,” Woods said. Woods also said that the biggest problem of Saturday’s match was the ebb and flow of the teams momentum, referr ing to their hit-and-miss scor ing. Friday and Saturday are not the kind of days that volleyball matches prosper in. At least, Photo by Dan Wheeler not Cougar volleyball mat ches. The College’s volleyball squad lost two succesive mat ches over the weekend, the first one going to Umpqua Community College Friday 6-15, 14-16, 5-15. Coach Kathie Woods called it “the worst game of the year”. Woods said that the team was missing Jenny Holzemer, but that they should have per formed better. “Our serving was the lowest ever. When you miss three serves in a row it’s like saying that you don’t want to win.” Carrie Coe led the team in offense with 16 kills. “We were missing a key player and we were in a different line-up,” Coe said, “It was hard to adjust, but she’s (Holzemer) back so things should get back to normal.” Quality Jewelry at an Affordable Price • custom /umdcUi/ied Available in: • ‘nec/c/aceb Convenient on-campus appointments available *********LAYAWAY NOW FOR CHRISTMAS*** FREE GIFT WRAPPING ¿nfaitnation , contact dtautyn at 653-7624, Sflicfo/iaMy. aflei 6 fl. tn.
