They sit waiting for the movie to begin. The lights dim, and their mouths go shut. Nothing can be heard but the chomp, chomp of their snacks. In another theatre, a crowd flocks in,, carrying their programs and greeting friends and neighbors along the way to their not so comfortable seats. They sit and chat before the show begins. The lights dim and they turn around to be a part of the actions taking place on the dimly lit stage. The difference between these two audiences is their participation in the single force that brings them together. The people who watch the silver screen enjoy little or no par ticipation. The people viewing the play, however, play a very big part. “You walk into a total en vironment,” said Roby Robin son, College theater technical specialist. “Mood, sense and feeling have all been made for you.” Robinson is currently working with Jack Shields, theater chairman, on the theater’s upcoming production of Paul Zindel’s “The Secret Af fairs of Mildred Wild,” a family comedy. “This play is a jovial jaunt of a middle aged lady living through the movies,” Robinson said. The play opens March'! and runs through March 4. After the team has performed at the College it will trek to the beach and perform at the Coaster Theater in Cannon Beach March 29 through 31. “The live theater is coming back,” said Robinson. “In about five to 10 years, the theater will be using what is known as holigrams. BOOK STORE imagine what an audience will do when they are watching a production of Macbeth and a ghost goes flying right above their heads?” The College theater depar- tment currently has quite a few members and , according to Robinson, “they are kept busy.” “Most of our members have only high school experience,” Robinson said, “In any theater it is different.
