■ Women harriers combine hard work and fun Clackamas womens' cross country team suffered their first defeat after 26 victories last Saturday at the Mt. Hood Invitational. Spokane Commun ity College won the meet with 24 points while CCC finished a distant second with 43 points. Lisa Nickel finished third for Clack amas in 18;33, nearly a minute behind first placer Debbie Eiden of Oregon College of Education. "We didn't run well but we just didn't expect that kind of competi tion," said Coach Roger Smith. "We're looking forward to meeting them again, but next time we'll be able to plan accordingly." "The season in our opinion starts with state, regionals, and nationals," Smith said. "But I like to think .that our loss was as hard for the athletes as it was for me."
