October 25, 1968 Generals division leaders THE GRANTONIAN 3 JV defeats Jeff; G-Men manhandle Madison 27-14 Frosh undefeated By equaling the varsity’s score of 7-6 over Jefferson, the JV football team remains undefeat ed this season. The team, coached by Robert Shewbert and Bill White, is now preparing to tan gle with Cleveland next Thurs day. THE TEAM has managed to stay on top of the standings by defeating Marshall, Franklin, and Lincoln along with Jeff. “The team? They are as good as there is around,” stated coach White. “The offense is as good as any that have been at Grant,” he added. When playing Jefferson the Demos only crossed the Ser geants’ 50 yard line once and that is when they made their TD. The G-Men ripped through the Sen ators’ defense to score four times in an hour and capture the Green Division lead. The G-Men then gained the PAT when Bill Hjelm tossed a pass to June Jones in side the Madison goal line. When asked how he liked the game coach Wolf re plied, “How can you com plain; it was great. How do you like scoring with five Aùini & dlmnW seconds to go and nine sec onds to go; it takes a pretty good quarterback to call it that way.” The first TD Wolf referred to was a 19 yard pass from Dan Percich to Robin Sinclair who zipped into the end zone for the score. The kick by John Percich added another point to the Gen erals’ tally. This goal came with five seconds showing on the clock in the first half. The other goal came with nine seconds left in the game when Bobby Bates slipped through the Madi son defense and romped 57 yards for six more points. John Percich then kicked the extra point to end the . scoring.
