Around the corner Ivan Kelly Studio & Gallery will showcase landscapes painted throughout the past 40 years, from the Canadian Rockies all the way to the high desert of New Mexico. “I love the way light transforms the landscape, in particular early morning when the air is fresh and the shadows are long and transparent,” Kelly said, “and I believe the best way to paint the beautiful subtleties of light is with easel fi rmly planted where it’s happening, on a cliff edge, riverbank or sand dune.” Ivan Kelly Gallery Studio is located at 207 East Graham Street, one block above Main Street. Art Walk will also feature oil and mixed media work from Barbara Alexander at 448 NE Andie Lane; works in a variety of mediums from members of the Toledo Arts Guild at Toledo Union Hall, 148 E Graham Street; pottery by Chasse Davidson alongside work by Dennis White, Doug Haga, Val Bolen, Martha Wallace, Paula Teplitz, Lydia Bosley and Ram Papish at Toledo Clayworks, 305 N Main Street; metal works by the late Sam Briseño at Gallery Briseño, 355 Main Street; graphite drawings and watercolor works by Michael Hicks at 240 South Main Street; assemblage art by Janet Runger at Crow’s Nest Gallery & Studio, 170 North Main Street; and a “Celebration of Writing and Art” at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 110 NE Alder Street. Toledo Public Library rounds out the Art Walk’s shows with a display of work from the Original Art Walk Founders Collection which includes pieces by Michael Gibbons, Doug Haga and Ivan Kelly. Th e Library, located at 173 NW 7th Avenue, will be open Saturday only. Th e 26th Annual Toledo Labor Day Art Walk, runs from Saturday, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept. 2.
