WOLFARD'S YOUR TRIENOL Y TOOD STURE PHONE COTTAGE GROVE Mothers Discuss Projects for Club London 4-H Mothers Club Completes 55th Quilt By Mrs. Esther Hinkle Phone 12V4J4 LONDON London 4-H Moth ers club members have just fin ished making their 55th quilt They sell the quilts to raise money for worthy causes or give them to needy persons. On February 5 members cele- brated the club's Itith birthday with a turkey dinner. Fourteen members were present, including two charter members. Mrs. I>*on Morton and Mi's. Glen Banton. Following dinner new o were elected. Mrs. Henry was voted president, Mrs. Julian Small vice president and Mrs. El vis Kelley secretary Improvements were made in the clubhous«* Friday, making better voting facilities. Recently mem bers had purchased plyboard for the improvements. The London 4-H Mothers club was organized January 29. 1941 At first members started crafts and studied the different projects included in the 4-H clubs. In 1948 they commenced making the quilts. the homes of the members and then in the old Woodard cookhouse They met for awhile in the old Black Butte school house and the Calapooya hotel. In 1944 mem bers purchased the London club house, which was later sold to Dean Martin and is now used for London Grange meetings. Woodard do nated a building to the club and A. L. Woodard moved it for them, locating it on the Leon Morton property. This is their present meeting house and it also is used for voting and other community activities. London 4-H Mothers club start ed the hot lunch program at Ixm- don school; at first, members took turns cooking at the school.
