W. Kime. Mrs. Robert Meranda received a message Monday announcing the death of her husband’s father, Henry Meranda, of Azalea, Oregon. Death was due to heart trouble. Mrs. Meranda’s health would not permit her to travel but her father, I. B. Morris, and two daughters, Helen and Genevieve, left Monday to attend the funeral. Robert Meranda, the son, was in California on his way here but probably went to Azalea after learning of his father’s death. Mrs. Neal McCoy died Tuesday morning at the home of Mrs. Mc Coy’s sister at Divide. The dogs were a Kentucky foxhound and two Rednail pups, owned by Bill Patton. Word was sent Patton, who was at work in the logging camp, that the dogs hail taken the trail of the big cat. He got a half hour off from work and at tho end of 30 ininptes had returned with the varmint, which measured six feet. The dogs had practically finished the job when their owner arrived. They had been successful ifl keeping the cat from getting into a tree and the pups probably kept the prey entertained while the older dog did the real work. A A. F. & A. M. The athletic club basketball team won a game played in the gymnasium Tuesday night with tho Anderson & Middleton team, the score being 23 to 14, and lost a game played last night at Lorane, the score being 22 to 21.
