The shooting took place a week ago while Pike and a companion were coming to Cottage Grove from Lorane and it was said that practically every box between here and Lorane was injured. An investigation was mado by Postal Inspector Clemens of Portland nnd the arrest fol lowed. Tha charge against Pike may prove to be a serious one. There was no mail in any of the boxes, which fact probably is for tunate for Pike.
