Resident Picks Trouble
With Uncle Sam.
George Pike of the Lorane coun
try was arrested Wednesday by of
ficers from the sheriff’s office
and United State» Marshal More-
lock of Portland upon a charge of
shooting holes in nia'.l boxes along
the Lorane route. The shooting
took place a week ago while Pike
and a companion were coming to
Cottage Grove from Lorane and it
was said that practically every
box between here and Lorane was
injured.
An investigation was
mado by Postal Inspector Clemens
of Portland nnd the arrest fol
lowed. Tha charge against Pike
may prove to be a serious one.
There was no mail in any of the
boxes, which fact probably is for
tunate for Pike.
