18 — THE CHRONICLE THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2019 SPORTS CHS Bulldogs: The week ahead FOOTBALL CHS JV/CO-ED SCHEDULE Game: CHS at Regis, Friday, Oct. 25, 7 p.m. What2Watch: Creswell is ranked 25th in the OSAA rank- ings, with Regis just behind them at 26th. Both teams have two wins apiece, with Regis leading Creswell in 2A Special-District 3 standings with one more league victory than the Bulldogs. Who2Watch: Battling QBs Dallton Dewey and Regis’ Byron Bishop. Dewey often runs the ball as well, while Regis likes to feed it to running back Joe Alley for rushing. Both teams grad- uated key players in Creswell’s Tayler Forsman – a 2018 SD3 First Team All-League wide receiver and First Team defensive back – and Regis’ 2018 SD3 Co-Defensive Player of the Year Zach Morey, a First Team defensive back and Second Team wide receiver. The Bulldogs return Second Team Offensive and Honorable Mention defensive linebacker Logan Johnson. FOOTBALL Notable: Regis beat Creswell 38-20 last season on the Bulldogs' Senior Night and, this year, the Bulldogs have the opportunity to return the favor to the Rams. CHS Football (JV) Monday, Oct. 28 Quotable: “Their quarterback can throw the ball; No. 34 (Alley) is a little speedy guy: we’ve got to contain him and make sure he doesn’t get past that second level and break out for a run on us; and their linemen are pretty big, so we’ve got to find a way to get past them and put pressure on the quarterback,” said coach Scott Worsham. CHS at Jefferson, 5 p.m. VOLLEYBALL CHS Volleyball (JV1) Thursday, Oct. 24 CHS vs. Harrisburg, 4:30 p.m. VOLLEYBALL Matches CHS vs. Harrisburg, Thursday, Oct. 24, 6 p.m. CHS Volleyball (JV2) League playoffs, Tuesday, Oct. 29, TBD. Thursday, Oct. 24 What2Watch: Being the last regular game of the season, both third-ranked Creswell and seventh-ranked Harris- burg will want to wrap up their seasons with a victory bow. Harrisburg will seek to repeat their 3-2 win over the Bulldogs earlier this month, making the Lady Dawgs even more determined to secure a Senior Night victory. CHS vs. Harrisburg, 4:30 p.m. Who2Watch: Creswell’s seniors, Kylee Whitson, Jane Marquess, Jenessa Mallory, and Makaela Seiber and Ashley Miller, playing in their last regular season home game. Creswell beat league leader Santiam Christian 4-2 early in the season, but then lost to Jefferson, who in turn tied third-place East Linn Christian. “Our league is just all over the place, so hot-and-cold; you never know who’s going to beat who,” said coach Brandi Wittenborn. Who2Watch: Creswell seniors Alex Metteer, Sky Leach, Dawson Sharkey, Javier Fregoso, Grant Marshall and Rogelio Legorreta, playing their hearts out in their final league home game. Notable: It’s shaping up to possibly be the Bulldogs’ first year since the inception of the CHS soccer program, more than a decade ago, not to make it into postseason play, and at least as far as state playoffs. Quotable: “We really needed to win out, starting this past week, to have a chance, so we’re pretty much out of it, for the first time,” Wittenborn said. “But we still want to finish strong. We’d better come out with some real intensity on Thursday to make sure we beat Jefferson in our Senior Night game.” CHS vs. Central Linn/Mohawk, Tuesday, Oct. 29, 3:30 p.m. What2Watch: League rematches with La Pine and Central Linn/Mohawk; both teams prevailed over the Bulldogs earlier this season. Creswell is still shooting for its first 2019 victory. Who2Watch: Seniors Jillian Greenfield, Riley Lamm, Shelby Lamm, Nicole Wood and Carley Wilkerson playing full-out to secure a win as they finish their last season with the Bulldogs. Notable: Creswell’s Senior Night is Oct. 29 vs. Central Linn. Quotable: “I’m looking forward to our last two league games; La Pine is a team we feel like we can be competitive with, so we’ll see how much we’ve improved since we played them the first time,” said coach Dan Smathers. Who2Watch: Creswell has three athletes – Brandon Moe- hlmann, Josiah Lee and Jackson Velarde – in the top 10 of 5,000-meter times in Boys’ 3A Special District 4, while Creswell’s top girls’ runner, freshman Leona Marquess, has the fourth-fastest 5k in girls’ SD-4 going into district finals.
