Community July 21 2022 7 Little Leaguers Go To State! Vernonia’s Jr. National Baseball little league boys team, made up of 5 th and 6 th graders (aged 11 and 12), and competing in the Westside League, finished the regular season with a 14-1 record before taking 2 nd place in the District Tournament and earning a trip to the State Playoffs for the second year in a row. The Vernonia team is coached by Jared Busch and Marcos Ruiz, and includes Kelan Busch, Wyatt Dennis, Sam Hough, Jacob Roady, Josh LaBelle, David LaBelle, Marcus Kent, Isaiah Ruiz, Hayden Kofstad, and Ben Davis. The Vernonia boys played on Friday, July 15 in the Jr. National State Championship and opened the double elimination tournament with a win in their morn- ing game, defeating Tualatin 12-7, before falling 12-2 to eventual champions Monroe in the evening. The boys returned on Saturday morning and won their first game in the consolation round, beating MCGRA 8-5, and then fell to Sandy 16-10 in the afternoon to finish in 4 th place. Building off OHSU’s success in obtaining reimbursement for its commu- nity-based programs, a team consisting of OHSU and Adventist Health nurse leaders and an OHSU health economist will work with health insurance payors that operate in Tillamook and Columbia counties. The project team will explore how the Adventist Health program’s services address the local payors’ needs and priorities, and develop a reimbursement proposal for the payors to consider.
