At the January 19, 2021 City Council Meeting: Council Approves CDBG Application – Following a public hearing to receive public comment, Council voted 5-0 to move forward with submitting an ap- plication for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to design the City’s Springboard Sewer Project. The completed project would provide repairs and improvements to the sewer system intended to address overflow problems. Proposed amendments in- clude pipe replacement, upsizing, and slip lining, as well as the installation of a new pump station. Council Adds Staff to Banking Ac- count – Council approved a request from staff to add Angie Handegard and Cassandra Budge to the City’s Wauna bank account in order to conduct City business. The two added staff members will be able to see account balances but cannot sign checks. Council Approves Alley Closure Re- quest – Council voted 5-0 to approve a request from the All In Pub for the tem- porary and partial closure of the alley next to their business in order to set up The Transfer Station is scheduled to be open on the 2 nd and 4 th Saturday January - October January 23 February 13 & 27 outdoor seating. The request is for 30 days through February 15. Citizen of the Month – Mayor Rick Ho- bart and former City Councilor Susan Wagner recognized Jessica Davis as the Citizen of the Month. Wagner said she nominated Davis because of her work as the director of the Vernonia Ballet. Topics From the Floor – Michael Cal- houn suggested the City become certi- fied as a Storm Ready community by the National Weather Service. Council asked City Administrator Josette Mitch- ell to bring the Council more informa- tion at their next meeting.
