To the Editor, I would like to thank the Vernonia community and family and friends that prayed and supported me and my family through the really tough month of April. All your support and prayers have made things a little easier. Love you all. Tina Brewington and Family To the Editor, There are over 200 children in foster care in Columbia County. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are needed now more than ever to stand up for these children and make sure their needs are met, and their voices are heard. I was an indoor/outdoor cat in my last home and the #1 mouser in the house. I have lived with other cats, dogs and kids. My family gave me up because they were moving and I was not able to go with. I know I'm an older guy but give me a chance and I will capture your heart! Jamboree Car Show “Run What Ya Brung” Returns The “Run What ‘Ya Brung & Rat Rod Revival” returns to the Vernonia Jamboree on the first full weekend of Au- gust. Last held in 2008, this is an open event and will include anything of anyone’s interest. “We’re looking for stories!” says show organizer Mike Snow. “Forty-five rides cruised in on short notice for the first show and it was a sight to check out. The Vernonia’s Voice couldn’t have said it any better when they called it, ‘A small but mighty show.’ We’ll have rides from six-figure builds to drags and rat rods. It will be fun for every- one!” The show will include a model car contest for all ages at no cost, a great DJ playing “Hot Rod Songs” all day long, and other events are in the works. Once again the show will feature original hand- made trophies for “Grand Rat,” “Dare To Be Differ- ent,” “Best Ten of Ten,” and many more. Snow wished to thank sponsors, R&S Market, The Black Iron Grill, Tommy’s Window Tinting/Graphics, Pihl’s Logging Co., Inc., Ver- nonia Dental, and to Ver- nonia residents Frank and Patricia Schrier for their generous donation to help the show succeed. He also thanked Vernonia City Administrator Josette Mitchell and the Jamboree Committee for their guidance in making the show possible this year. The show will benefit the new Spencer Park to help improve the City’s newest park and help make it more enjoy- able for years to come.
