16 obituaries/classified ads may18 2017 In Memory of... Kermit Fisher Kermit lived in St. Johns, N. Portland and went to school there where he met his wife Geneieve Neve whom he married. They had two chil- dren, Joyce “Joy Williams” and Roy. Kermit and Jenny were married fifty-two years until her death. They had five grandchil- dren and seven great grandchil- dren. Kermit worked at Bell Telephone Co. for sixteen years in Portland and com- muted from the family home in Scappoose. During this time Kermit was also logging part- time and he was getting tired of the office work, suits, white shirts and commuting. He then started logging full-time as an independent. He had worked in Scappoose, Vernonia, Estacada, Ashland and Gaston. In those communities and among log- gers he had many friends. Ker- mit logged for forty years until his 75th birth date. He was an avid hunter, he played guitar and sang, he enjoyed cards and he loved to dance with his wife Jenny. Kermit passed on qui- etly in his home after a short ill- ness in his daughter’s care. Dean, 74, a resident of the Vernonia com- munity, died Sunday evening, April 30, 2017 at her home. Services have been held. Penny Rae Dean was born on October 31, 1942 in Vernonia, Oregon the daughter of the late Claire J. and Beau- lah M. (Kelly) Badley. She was raised and received her educa- tion in the Vernonia community, having been a graduate with the Vernonia High School Class of 1961. She was united in mar- riage to Robert W. Dean in 1966 in Washington. Following their marriage they made their home in Springfield for three years until moving to the Vernonia community, where she has re- sided since. Penny was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. on June 10, 2004 after celebrat- ing over 38 years of marriage together. She worked for View- master in Beaverton for over five years before working as a custodian for the Vernonia School District for 30 years un- til her retirement in 2000. Penny was a member of the Grace Family Fellowship and the Verno- nia Cares Food Bank. before the 4th of July fireworks. So far, the class of 2018 senior trip students have agreed to have a booth selling root beer floats and orangecicles. Oth- er food vendors needed! (503) 693-7965 Germaine Marie Woolsey July 16, 1935 – April 10, 2017 Germaine “Gerry” Ma- rie Boyd was born July 16, 1935 in Portland, Oregon to parents William and Veronica Boyd. Her family resided in Beaver- ton, Oregon, where Gerry grew up, along with five brothers and one sister. She attended through eighth grade at St. Cecelia’s Grade School and graduated high school in 1953 from St. Mary’s of the Valley School. Gerry married Albert Franklin Woolsey. They were together for more than 35 years and raised five children. Early on they moved to Vernonia, Or- egon, Albert’s hometown, and stayed there until 1977 when they moved to Newport, Or- egon. Gerry spent part of her married life as a stay at home mom, but she also held a variety of jobs as her children got older, including in the restaurant, fish- ing, and hospitality industries. She spent many years working at the Whaler Motel in Newport and, among other positions, at- tended the front desk. Upon retirement Gerry moved next door to her son-in- law and oldest daughter Robert and Cheryl Lettenmaier, just outside of Toledo, Oregon. She enjoyed craft-making and the “flora and fauna” of the coun- tryside, including the humming birds and deer that frequented her yard. In January 2016, she moved into St. Mary of Bethany Helen Home Care in Gleneden Beach, Oregon, owned by Cris- tito Velasco. Gerry is preceded in death by her former husband Albert Woolsey; her parents; and four brothers Elmer, Don- ald, Bernard, and LeRoy Boyd. She is survived by one brother Mervyn Boyd; Sister Kathleen Boyd, her sister; and a sister- in-law Barbara Boyd-Decker, all of Beaverton. Along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins, she is also survived by her five children and their families: Cheryl (daughter) and Robert Lettenmaier of Toledo; William “Bill” Woolsey (son) and Elizabeth White of Scap- poose; Matthew Woolsey (son) and Jill Anderson of Newport; Tryna (daughter) and Les Luton of Eugene; and Brenda Woolsey (daughter) of Aloha. Memorial Service was held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 1:30 pm in The Villa, located directly behind Valley Catholic Early Learning Center, Beaver- ton, Oregon.
