Farewell My name is Kassidy Fetch and I’m the senior class president. We are a graduating class of 53 students. 19 of us have spent the last 13 years together, 20 of us have above a 3.0 GPA, currently 16 of us have received scholarships, totaling over $53,000. We’ve shared a lot of ups and downs together. I know personally that I’ve had some great times, and have been through a few hardships along the way. It’s going to be strange not going to school with the same people I’ve grown up with, and not seeing the same faces everyday. Ms. Safier won’t be telling us to have a happy day at the end of each day, or giving us advice for the weekends. Mr. Brown won’t be threatening to go on the three check mark system. No more pie day with Mr. Shockey or Mr. Ware telling us his crazy stories, and we won’t be hearing him yell those stories in the hallway either. Mrs. Willard’s contagious laugh won’t be something we hear all of the time. Mrs. Riley won’t be updating us on her fish, or yelling at us not to kill spiders. Mrs. Hyde won’t be checking in on you to see how you’re doing all of the time. We won’t be painting any more salmon for Ms. Allen, or taking any more computer classes with Mr. Lower. We probably won’t ever have Ms. Gwin handing out gum to all of us either and instead of filling out fake W-2 forms with Mr. Blair, we’ll be doing taxes by ourselves. One thing I’m going to look back on and always be able to smile about is our homecoming memories. From air jams, to making the banners and signs, to powder-puff and the homecoming football game, our class always did well and it helped us grow together from freshman year on. Our class has been a part of a lot, particularly our senior year. It was the best year Vernonia has had for athletics as a whole, ever. Through the course of our 4 years, we’ve had many accomplishments. But this year, our volleyball team went to state for the 5th consecutive year, our football team had a winning season and was league champions for the first time since 2004, our girls’ basketball team was league champions for the 4th consecutive year, and they went to Pendleton last year for the first time in history. Our boys’ basketball team was not only league champions, but STATE champions as well for the first time since 1979. Cheerleading came back to Vernonia our freshman year, and earned second at state this year. Our baseball team went to district playoffs, and our softball team was league champions and made it to the quarter finals of the state tournament, which was only the third time for Vernonia to do so. Our track team also had multiple state champions, and a state record as well, and our equestrian team sent athletes to state for the last four years. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with high school. I’ve learned a lot, and have truly been blessed with some of the things I have encountered. I’m sure a lot of us would say the same. As our years of high school have come to an end, and it may be a scary thought or an exciting thought, I want everyone to Steven Burns & Jocie Roberts Kassidy Fetch Robert Connor Kennedy Fish Emily Bergerson Margaret Brent, Jared Cook & Leire Valladares Lacey Best-Cutright, Trevor Kent & Elisabeth Kreuter Patricia Garcia -Kassidy Fetch Class President Jordan Brickley Jocie Roberts Benjamin Skanes Quentin Skanes Sheyanne Pedersen Kassidy Fetch, President Sara Smith, Vice President Jordan Brickley, Secretary/Treasurer Lola Berger & Klára Sehnoutkova Congratulations to the class of 2016, always be the best that you can be. We did it! Honor Graduates Class Officers Charity Barklow imagine what’s still to come, and the journeys we will take on. I hope we can put some of the stuff we’ve learned in high school to use. Not just academically, but the lessons you may have learned with friends, family, reacting to situations, learning when to bite your tongue and when not to, learning where hard work can get you and much, much more. Although things are never going to be the same, I know that we will all contribute to society in our own way. We don’t just have the potential, we WILL do something great, whether it be athletics, careers, schooling or what ever challenges we decide to take on.
