community Vernonia Fighter Goes for FCFF Championship Title On Saturday, January 23rd Daniel Pihl of Vernonia will make his way to Portland, Oregon to fight for the Full Contact Fight- ing Federation’s (FCFF) 185-pound Middleweight Championship Title at “Rumble @ The Roseland 85.” The FCFF is Oregon’s oldest and most prestigious mixed martial arts (MMA) organization in the region. The fight card also features a battle for the 155-pound Light- weight Championship belt. Tickets are available online at Cascade Tickets and at the door on fight night starting at 6 pm, fights at 7 pm. Updated fight cards and more information available at www.thefcff.com and www. facebook.com/fullcontactfightingfedera- tion. Daniel Pihl, who trains at the im- mensely popular gym “Rose City FC” will take on Austin Vanderford for the vacant FCFF 185-pound title. Vanderford had two impressive round-one wins in 2015. This will be Vanderford’s first fight in the FCFF and Daniel Pihl’s fifth, as he’s fought exclusively in the FCFF. Pihl made a name for himself in his very first fight at Rumble @ The Roseland 65 with a round-one keylock submission over Josh Bird. He overcame back-to-back losses with a new found determination. He faced a formidable opponent, Scott Baker of Hood River (who has been a title contender in the past) and won via a round-one TKO/referee stoppage in 95 seconds of the fight. “Both of these fighters are submission experts and possess stand-up power. This fight could be over quickly or be a chess match, it could go either way,” said FCFF matchmaker, Heather Standing. About the FCFF: The FCFF is Oregon’s oldest and most respected mixed martial arts promotions company. Its signature event “Rumble @ The Roseland” was established in 2001 at Roseland The- ater in downtown Portland. The FCFF has grown across the state, hosting events from Pendleton, Oregon to the Coast. Most recently, the FCFF has established the “Battle at the Mountain” series in part- nership with Spirit Mountain Casino. In 2014 the FCFF began host- ing professional MMA fights in addition to matching up the region’s top amateurs in battles for the belt. january21 VHS Senior Projects to improvise and work with what you have.
