community In Memory of... MARY ELIZABETH McGUIRE was born on May 11, 1924 in The Bronx, New York, the daughter of the late John Douglas Kirsch and Elizabeth Agnes Sullivan. She was united in marriage to Harold Francis ‘Mac’ McGuire on October 18, 1947 in New York. Mary was a proud Navy wife, following Mac and raising their children wherever duty called. After Mac’s discharge from the Navy, they settled in Whittier, CA and then San Jose, CA until Mac’s retirement february6 2014 17 continued from page 16 as a newspaper pressman in 1985 where Mary and Mac found a piece of Heaven on Earth in Sisters, OR. Mary and Mac were members of Saint Edward the Martyr Catholic Church. Mary was an active member of the Altar Society, taking care of all the needs for daily and weekend Masses, including altar linens and especially the flowers. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 2009. She remained in her home at The Pines in Sisters until her health prompted a move to live with her grandson, Michael Douglas Roberts of Vernonia, OR in March of 2013. She was also preceded in death by her four children; John McGuire, Elizabeth Grummert, Noreen Litherland and Richard McGuire. Surviving Mary are her grandchildren Michael Douglas Roberts and his wife Cari Levenseller of Vernonia, OR and Celeste Litherland- Frost and her husband Nick Frost of FL; many great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandson Gideon. Dr. Carol McIntyre of Natural Path Health Services will be teaching Tai Chi on Fridays beginning February 14, 2014. The classes will be one half hour in length and will begin at 9 a.m. ALL seniors are welcomed whether a member of the center or not. There will not be a fee.
