Gloster ESTHER E. PHILLIPS, 88, a resident of the Banks community, died Tuesday morning, November 13, 2012 at her home. Private Cremation Rites have been held. ESTHER EMMA PHILLIPS was born on April 13, 1924, in Unga, Alaska, the daughter of the late Ernest and Katherine (Fox) Vinberg. She was raised and received her education in the community of Dutch Harbor, Alaska un- til June of 1942 when the Japanese at- tacked the Dutch Harbor Naval Base and Fort Mears. Esther relocated with her family to Seattle, Washington where she was a welder in the shipyards for the du- ration of WWII. Following the war, Esther re- sided in the communities of San Diego, California and Pismo Beach, California where she raised her family. Esther was united in marriage to Shady Utah Phillips on September 11, 1980 in Vancouver, Washington. Fol- lowing their marriage they made their home in the community of Banks, Or- egon where she has resided since. They celebrated over 15 years of marriage prior to Shady’s passing in 2001. Esther was a homemaker. Among her special interests, Es- ther enjoyed reading, watching TV, bird watching and flowers. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Katherine Vinberg and her husband, Shady Phillips. Survivors include her chil- dren, Carla Hendley of Phoenix, Ari- zona, James and Linda Drouillard, also of Phoenix, Arizona, Johnnie Kay of Ka’a’awa, Hawaii, and Donald Drouil- lard of Banks, Oregon. Also surviving are her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. GLOSTER, 73, a resident of the Banks community, died Monday morning, November 19, 2012 at Providence St. Vincent Medical Cen- ter in Portland, Oregon. Private Cremation Rites have been held. JUDY ANN GLOSTER was born on November 8, 1939 in Kettle River, Minnesota, the daughter of the late John and Vieno (Niemi) Leppioja. She was raised in the Kettle River com- munity and was a graduate of Duluth High School with the Class of 1957. Judy worked for many years in electronics assembly, having been em- ployed at Chrome Glo, Textronix and eventually Hewlett Packard where she retired in 1997. Among her special interests, Judy enjoyed gardening, sewing, col- lecting elephant figurines, spending time with her grandchildren and great grand- children and also volunteering with Tu- alatin Valley ALANO Club. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Vieno Leppioja; her son, Rodger Wiita; her daughter, Karen Wiita; two brothers, Frank Leppioja and Harold Leppioja; and two sisters, Mary Juntunen and Elma Sarvela. Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Kim and Doug Leach of Vernonia Oregon; her three sons, Ron- ald Wiita of Duluth, Minnesota, Dale Wiita of Banks, Oregon and John Wiita of Portland, Oregon; her four sisters and Classified Ad Rates $5/month Rideshare/Carpool Ads FREE Born on December 5th, 1948, in Forest Grove, Oregon, to Virgil H. Lynch Sr. and Effie L. (Butrum) Lynch, Virgil H. Lynch Jr. was the couple’s first son and second child. Virgil grew up mainly in and around Tillamook County in Or- egon. Virgil enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1967, directly serving in his first tour of the Vietnam War. Earning both the Air Medal and a Purple Heart for his service in the 114th Assualt Helicopter Company, Second Platoon. Virgil re- ceived his first honorable discharge from service in November 1969, but directly re-enlisted for a second tour of the war as well as some time stationed in Ger- many. He received his second honorable discharge in 1972, but again directly re- enlisted, this time for non-combat duty in the Presidio, San Francisco. With a fi- nal honorable discharge in August 1975. Virgil married Patricia J. Steele on June 2nd, 1973 in her hometown of Vernonia, Oregon, where the two had met. They would have celebrated their 40th Wed- ding Anniversary this next June. The couple resided on the army base in San CLASSIFIED ADS 19 Francisco after being married, where they welcomed their first child, daugh- ter Christina Renee, in February 1975. Upon his final Army discharge, the fam- ily moved back to Oregon, eventually settling back down in Vernonia. When he arrived back in Oregon, Virgil went to work for the Stimson-Forestex plant in Forest Grove, but he later left there to go to work for Georgia Pacific – Wauna Paper Mill, just outside of Clatskanie, Oregon (where he worked to present). In August 1980, the family welcomed its second child, daughter Sarah Eliza- beth. After both children were grown and moved away from home, Patty and Virgil moved in 1998 to Saint Helens, Oregon where they resided presently. Virgil enjoyed an avid hobby for woodworking over the years, teaching himself how to build: cabinets, hutches, tables, lawn furniture, shelves and many other decorative items. He enjoyed shar- ing home improvement and landscape projects with his wife. He spent time reading, going to the gym, doing outdoor activities, taking family trips, and check- ing out classic/hot rod vehicle shows. Virgil passed away at his home, of unknown, natural causes. While taken too soon, his family is glad he suffered no pain in death, and wish to remem- ber him as the loving, generous, happy, funny husband and father he had always been.
