To the Editor This is a public letter to Willow Burch and Marilyn Nicks. “You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can make a damn fool of yourself any old time.” The more you scheme to get your own way the more people notice what you are really up to. Do your community a favor and resign from Vernonia City council. Upcoming Events the rest of my life due to the delay in getting a diagnosis and treatment. I will be on antibiotics for about two years and possibly longer. If I’m not careful to consistently take probiotics, I could have even more problems. There’s an intense documentary on Lyme Disease in the U.S. and how it’s become a political issue. It’s called Under Our Skin. Some PBS stations show it but you can view and download it on Netflix.com or purchase the DVD on amazon.com. Please take time to K. Davenport watch it! Last June, while working in the North Cemetery of Clear Creek, I Cynthia Robertson attracted a tick. I didn’t notice it until Vernonia the following day. About a month later I started to get severe muscle pain, cramps, and spasms, plus terrible brain To the Editor fog! The list of issues is long, but I’ll Ignorance Is Bliss! spare you the additional details. I spent “The two pillars of ‘political correctness’ the past year going from doctor to are: a) willful ignorance, b) a steadfast doctor until I had an appointment with refusal to face the truth” a doctor referred by the Oregon Lyme George MacDonald (1824-1905) Disease Network. If I hadn’t spent A community who adheres to many hours searching the web, I would these principles is destined to fail. Two still be in a no hope situation. I’ve people in our community who refuse to been diagnosed with Babesia which is subscribe to these principles are Clark a tick borne disease. I’m also being and Rebecca McGaugh. They put their treated for Lyme and Bartonella. I’m whole heart into our community and expected to have residual issues for should be recognized for their efforts. Clark and Rebecca have been severely bashed and trashed by our former mayor and city council…and even by some in our current city council. Scott Laird of the Vernonia’s Voice has used his editorial in an attempt to tarnish Clark and Rebecca’s reputation. I’ve known Clark and Rebecca for quite some time and I’ve read their articles for many years. I have never known them to publish something that wasn’t true. They do their homework before they publish anything and they can always support their findings. Occasionally, everyone makes a mistake. Clark and Rebecca will always acknowledge a mistake and make every effort possible to correct it. The public should be thankful to Clark and Rebecca for protecting them from a city council who attempts to hide the truth from them. Practically everyone in our community is aware of the controversy involving our city council over the past couple of years. It turned out Clark and Rebecca were correct in their investigations. I think an apology is due. Scott Laird should publish an apology to Clark and Rebecca in his Vernonia’s Voice! Edward Johnson Vernonia 4th of July Parade - starts at 4 PM. Willow and Marilyn lack good customer service and savvy business sense. They have lost the trust of the citizens. A recall of councilors Burch & Nicks will strengthen the City of Vernonia Customer Service Lorna L. Poetter Vernonia To the Editor I have noticed Marilyn and Willow that you have taken a new tactic not to appear to be forcing your agenda in City Council. You have been smiling sweetly. However, your lack of admission or apology for your errors and not stepping down shows that you are still set on your own agenda, stubbornly forcing your will on Vernonians. Your spoonful of sugar to make your agenda go down is a masquerade and it is not going to work any more than your other tactics did. Because Hudson would not speak for the people, the people have spoken loud and clear and Kevin is out! You both will be next because you ignore the people and leaders of Vernonia. You now have the opportunity to make the wrongs right where people can begin to respect you. Please do the right thing- save our city and yourselves from more discord, shame and expense by resigning as soon as possible. Then you can move on and get back to running your businesses and the city can get back to running the city’s business. To the Editor: Running a city is like running a business.
