6 community news march22 2011 Logging Show Planning Organizers have begun to meet and plan for the 2011 Vernonia Logging Show and they are looking for some help. The Logging Show, held during the first weekend in August as part of the Vernonia Jamboree, was cancelled last year. “Jamboree just isn’t Jamboree without the Log- ging Show,” says Kelly Baska, who is helping organize the event this year. “It’s a go for this year, though. It definitely will happen.” Baska has begun meeting with a committee to begin planning. The group is meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Vernonia City Hall, and anyone interested in helping make the Logging Show happen is invit- ed to attend. The next meeting is scheduled for April 13 th . “We’re definitely making headway, but you can never have too many people to help with set up, and other things,” says Baska. Baska says donation re- quest letters would be sent out shortly and that he was hoping any- one who has been involved in past Logging Shows, as well as any oth- er interested people, will turn out for the next meeting to help give input. “We’re hoping to make this year’s show really good,” says Bas- ka. For more information you can contact Kelly Baska at 503- 869-4188.
