20 in case you missed it... april13 2010 Is It Spring Yet? After some unusually mild weather in March we went from this... The Vernonia Half Marathon was held on April 3rd. Runners from all over the area braved cold, rain and even a snow shower. Starting at Vernonia’s Anderson Park 259 runners completed the race along the Banks-Vernonia Linear Trail ending at Stub Stewart State Park. Seven Richards of Al- bany, OR won the race with a time of 1:20.53; Kimberly Har- ding of Bellevue, WA was the first female finisher, finish- ing sixth overall with a time of 1:31.58. Elizabeth Byrne came in 188th and was the first finisher from Vernonia with a time of 2:29.39. Jeana Gump, finished seconds ahead of Don Shulte, and Kelli Shulte, all of Vernonia, with a time of 2:42.24. Easter Egg Hunt ...to this! Snow in the beginning of April left Vernonia area residents who thought spring had already arrived feel- ing just a little bit confused.
