flon't Forget The Junior Prom Remember Courtesy In The Halls WEST LINN, OREGON Vol. 24, No. 8 JUNIORS CHOOSE ST. PATRICK THEME ' Hey! Bring out those fancy go-to-metein’ clothes, gals and guys, and let’s go a-steppin'! Once more the time has come for the juniors to sponsor a social affair; this time it’s the gala event about which everyone is talking—the Junior Prom! Although hampered by the necessity of holding it in the cafeteria, the juniors plan to make this a dance everyone will remember for 3. long, long time. Under the able guidance of the maiiv dance committee, Earl Miller, Jean Hopp, Jane Culver, Sue Earlenbaugh, Alden Ron deau, Dave Gray, Miss Thornton, and, of course, Mr. Hays, all ar rangements have' been made for music; decorations are going up; refreshments are being prepar ed; and everything in general is just simply “ducky.” Jack Woodward’s five-piece orchestra "will make with the music starting at nine o’clock sharp and ending promptly at twelve. When you aren’t danc ing to heavenly music, you will probably find yourself either in front of the refreshment bar, drinking green river punch with a scoop of ice cream floating in it, or looking admiringly at the beautiful green and white deco rations on the ceiling and walls which brightly illustrate the theme of the dance, “When Irish Eyes Are Smilin? ” Chaperones will be Mr. and Mrs. Culver, Mr. and Mrs. Hopp, Miss Thornton and Mr. Hays. Remember, let’s all turn out tonight and have the time of our lives! 0. C. MUSICIANS OSWEGO HIGH AID CAMPAIGN TO OPEN IN '51 Oregon City entered into West Linn’s student body campaign ing when 6 musicians, sponsor ed by the “Danehy for President” committee, invaded the halls and gave out with an impromptu serenade Thursday, March 2. Their most requested song was the “Johnson Rag.” Next was “In the Mood.” They also played “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “Darktown Strutter’s Ball,” “South,’ ’and “St. Louis Blues March.” The fellows who participated were: Lynri Teadtke, trumpet; Bill Freeman, clarinet; , Dick Graham and Jim Carlisle, trom bone; Bob Fisher, drums, and Woody Brown. BRENDING RETURNS IN DIFFERENT ROLE An ex-West Linn high student body president, Bob Brending, has returned but in a different position. He is a practice teacher from Lewis and Clark College and has taken over Mr. Brown’s fifth pe riod social-econ class and fourth period boys’ physical education Class. He will be here for 12 weeks. Brending was student body president- in 1944. He transfer red to West Linn in his junior year. “School hasn’t changed $iuch; being back makes me reminis cent,” says Brending. The junior class pictures should be turned into Miss Ring now before the end of the day together with the dollar for printing cost. Hey, students! Don’t forget that May court elections are coming up and we all want a worthy queen, so let’s be thinking about our own choice! The Lake Grove and Oswego freshmen and sophomores will go to the new Lake Oswego nigh school in the fall of 1951. Mr. Elie said that all the students attending the meeting, the fresh men next year, all the students Who live in the Oswego area and go to Portland schools, Tigard, or Oregon City will have to at tend'this new high school. The new high school will have almost the same subjects as West Linn. Mr. Elie is a chair man of a board that is planning the school. The reason for the meeting was to find out what the students wanted in it, Mr. Elie told the students that there would be all sorts of school ac tivities. There will be a school paper, a manual training shop, but there will be no Ag shop unless there is a big demand for one. The auditorium and gymnasi um will be combined but there is no plan for a swimming pool. Mr. Elie said it Would be up to the school board to make the decision whether the sophomores and freshmen would be able to finish at West Linn. ANNUAL The Annual subscriptions are now on sale in the stu dent body office during the noon hour. Ekxc& subscription is $2.50 per copy. The annual staff would like snapshots for the snap section of the publication. The snaps must be of West Linn stu- | dents but needn't be taken at the high school. Alden is 17 years old and hails from Pete’s Mountain. He has been a student at West Linn for three years, being active in thé F. F. A. and the Letterman’s Club. She is an officer in the new Latin club; belongs to the Pep club and numerous other clubs and is also active in dramatics. Contribu tions have been asked from the schools for the Navajo Indians, for whom a welfare drive was set up by the state Junior Red Cross. Any of the following would be welcome as donations: clothing of all kinds (which definitely does not have to be new), scraps of material, thread candles, books, pencils, toys and paper.
