W. L. Seniors Attend Meeting Wrestlers Live Up To Their Motto Highlight of the senior con ference at which Oregon City high school was host to the seniors of Canby and West Linn high schools were the group dis cussions held for the purpose of informing students about col lege and jobs, two problems which confront all graduates. After thé welcoming address by- Albert O’Donnell, student body president of Oregon City, Mr. J. T. Longfellow, superinten dent of the Oregon City system, spoke about the purposes of the conference. Following this, the speakers were introduced who were to tell about the various colleges and other things which high school graduating classes would be interested in. The first part of the afternoon was given over to group sing ing. Then came the discussions. There were four held: one for students who planned to attend Oregon State; one for those who planned to enter University of Oregon this fall; one for stu dents who were interested in at tending the colleges of educa tion; and one for those who def initely were not going to college. The West Linn high school brass choir played for the last session of the conference. The West Linn grapplers lived up to their motto which stated that they would send some of their team to the state meet at Salem. Although West Linn 'did not place first in the district meet, it won several other awards. Those who won first places were, Reuben Baisch, heavyweight; John Morrison, 95- lb. match; and Gene Vincent, 105-lb. match. Second place award was Ed Wood worth, 145- lb. match. These boys won cham pionship medals for their victory. The team that did place first in < the district was Sandy, who rated 18 first and second places.' Sandy has the reputation of one of the best teams in the state this year, winning every meet on the list. Coach Newton is very pleased by the turnout that he had this year, especially that the majority of the wrestlers are freshmen and sophomores. Have Your Clothes “LUSTERIZED” Stay Clean Longer Lions Lose to O.C.; 2nd Time Defeated Playing their last basketball game of the season the Lions were defeated by the Pioneers 42 to 33 on the winners floor. It was a fast game and the Lions gave O.C. a great battle. Oregon City had a good advan tage by being able to put in new men while W.L. had to use one team all the game. The Lion Cubs, coached by Mr. Nixon, and doing a good job of it, lost their game also 40 to 18. Lineups for first team: West Linn Oregon City Merkle................. F.............. Jordon Grapplers Win Three-Way Meet The West Linn strong men came out on top in a three-way meet with Silverton, and Wash ington Blind School. The score was Silverton, 16; West Linn, 32; and Washington Blind School, 24. Those who won for W. L. ate: Zimmerman, Baisch, Reed, Stockton, J. Ream, Murray, J.
